Victory In Hawaii

Congratulations are in order as the Hawaiin Senate yesterday passed the Marriage Equality bill as expected, 19-4.  Governor Neil Abercrombie is set to sign the measure into law at a ceremony beginning at 10 AM HT (2 PM CT).  A large crowd of supporters is expected to attend.  The law will take effect on December 2.  This is a culmination of a 20 year effort to bring Marriage Equality to the Aloha State, the longest battle so far in any state in the US.  Hawaii is the seventh state this year to join the ever increasing number of progressive states who value all their citizens and confer upon them Equal Civil Rights.  One more step towards a more perfect union and a signal to keep our shoulder to the wheel so that soon all of us, no matter the state in which we live, will be full and equal citizens under the law.
