Yucky Monday

Yesterday was not one of my better days.  It was cold, rainy and yucky all day.  While it is true that those nearest and dearest to us give us the most joy.  They are also the ones that can most easily drive us bat shit crazy.  Yesterday was an excellent example of this.  In addition to the weather being most unpleasant, my Dallas Cowboys lost a infinitely boring game to the Seattle Seahawks at home 13-12.  Also, Will and I seemed to be at cross purposes all day resulting in a lot of angry words and a whole lot of stress.  Any time I get that stressed and angry, I always pay a physical price for it later on or the next day.  

Today I had to pay that piper, awaking fatigued and shortly afterward having multiple unpleasant emissions from various regions of my body.   So I went back to bed and slept all day to about 2:30.  I am feeling much better but not really ready to take on the world yet.  But I have managed to pull together the Music and the Men for today so let's get  to that and then I think I will go back to bed for a little more rest before work tonight.  

Your Monday with Mozart features the late, renowned Austrian pianist Friedrich Gulda performing 2 Mozart Piano Sonatas. His first interpretation is of # 9, K.311 in D major followed by # 12, K.332 in F major.  Over on my tumblr Vlatseslav Novikov and Anastasia Injushina perform the Sonata in D Major for Two Pianos, KV 448, which Mozart himself performed with Josepha Auernhammer in November 1781 represents the crowning glory of his compositions for two pianos in its panache and its irresistible drive.

Delayed Gratification

Today is all about delayed gratification, yours and mine.  I must begin with an apology for your delayed gratification in that I made no appearance in these pages over the weekend.  However as it so happened, time and events conspired to preclude just such an occurrence in any timely manner.  I therefore decided to just regroup and begin anew today.  Please understand that my absence from these pages for any length of time is only temporary.  Trust me, your intrepid Uncle will return sooner or later with pithy commentary, political rantings, beautiful music and gorgeous guys. 

I have talked a lot lately of the planned upgrades to my computer and the Nichevo-Xanatos home network.  I know how much my part will cost and Will has his part for which he has budgeted.  Things have been more or less on schedule with that until now.  Unfortunately, my gratification will be somewhat delayed by the fact that I must spend a grunch of money on the car.  In fact, I have spent enough already this week to buy my new computer, but I am not finished with the car yet.  My annual State Inspection was due and I had to get new tires for the front of the car in order to pass along with a minor muffler repair.  The surprise expense was the crack I put in the wheel on the way home from work on Wednesday morning that cost me an extra $125 to fix on top of the cost of the tires.  However they refurbished the entire wheel and it looks like factory new again.  That means I now need to do the others to match and another $375 spent a piece at a time to do that.  Yet even that is not all.

I changed the oil and got the car inspected, so now that is done with for the time being.  However, the noise I thought my electric fan for the cooling system was making turned out not to be the fan at all.  It is the sound of the wheel bearing going out in my front hubs.  Not a problem except that it will cost $617.89 to repair them.  This means of course the $500 I was gathering for the computer must now go for the car and them I can set about gathering for the computer again.  So much delayed gratification there and unfortunately it is also way expensive.  Every time I think that I am actually making financial progress towards my wants, some necessary expense comes up that cannot be avoided.  And whatever it is is undoubtedly gonna be expensive.  Such is the pattern of my life here lately.  C'est la vie!

Welcome To June!

Happy Monday all and Welcome to June.  There is a lot on tap this month, so things could get interesting before they get over.  Of course, June brings with it Gay Pride 2015 in most corners of the world with festivals and celebrations around the globe.  This years Pride could be enhanced with a positive outcome from SCOTUS regarding the Marriage Equality Cases before it.  SCOTUS is expected to rule in the favor of Equality, but you can never tell until it is done.  We will be watching and will keep you posted. 

In addition to Marriage Equality, Obama Care, The Death Penalty, and Civil Rights are on the agenda.  They have already ruled today that the rapper whose lyrics got him in trouble on facebook has had his conviction reversed and SCOTUS sided with the Muslim woman  against A & F that her traditional headdress did not violate A & F's dress code policy.  So it could get 'velly innntresting' before all is said and done.

Monday's Miscellany

Well, it has been  a busy morning for me already today as I have already gone to the dealership to get the recall work done on my car and returned home.  This is my first day off in two weeks and it is as chock full of activity as any work day.  Next up is a trip over to the downtown campus of Tarrant County College so my buddy J can talk to someone about his course load for this next semester.  After we get finished there, hopefully I can work in some nap time before starting the evenings activities.  

I am making chicken fried chicken breasts for dinner with sides of half-mashed potatoes, stuffing, organic corn  and some yummy chicken gravy.  That will involve a little work and probably a lot of mess.  Any time I mess with flour it seems to get everywhere no matter what I do.  So I just accept it and clean up the mess.  I am going to slow fry the chicken in my electric skillet with the cover on using my special double dipped recipe.  I have my own 'secret herbs and spices' and slow frying with the lid on mimics the pressure cooker results you get with the Original KFC recipe.  People tell me I resemble Colonel Sanders a lot.  When they do I ask them if they know why the resemblance is so remarkable.  Then I just say "I'm old, I'm wise and I am finger lickin' good!  This always gets a wry laugh or spontaneous lascivious thoughts in those in hearing range of my comments.  

At any rate, dinner should be simply delicious despite the work necessary to get it on the table.  I find that cooking relaxes me, and the sound of happy forks on dinnerware gives me a great deal of pleasure.  After dinner, then I hope to catch something interesting on Net Flix or hang with my buddies J & D over across the sidewalk from me.  My whole goal today is to have a stress free, relaxing and entertaining day.  Wish me luck in my endeavors, lol.
