Amazing and Astounding Things for a Friday Morning

If you watched the Super Bowl you most likely saw the advertisement 'So God Made a Farmer' for Doge Ram.  Well Crew Magazine feels that a great meme is a terrible thing to waste -- and that it's great to be gay and they have created their own meme.  'So God Made a Gay Man' is a pretty amazing video that I could not help but to share it with you:

Also in the realm of amazing or astounding things come the news that a Marriage Equality bill has been introduced in the Texas Legislature.  Not that it stands a snowball's chance in hell of actually making it through both houses and landing on the Governor's Desk.  Even if it did, the whiney wienie that is our Governor would most likely veto it anyway.  It is however nice to see that there are some progressives in our state government who really do want to extend equality to all.

Then breaking news this morning from Russia where a meteorite has exploded in the air near Chebarkul, injuring 474 people with 20 of them remaining hospitalized so far.  You can see some fabulous video of the event as seen from different areas near the explosion that is live updating over at Gizmodo.  The Russian Space Agency has issued a statement that this explosion is not connected to the the expected flyby tonight of asteroid 2012DA14.  "The meteor exploded before hitting the ground because of the enormous heat generated by the compression of air in front of the meteor or asteroid. This phenomenon is called asteroid airburst or bolide."  I am just glad I wasn't underneath the blast, would have really ruined my morning , don't you think?

Your TGIF Musical Moment is the live concert footage of a performance by the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam from the Great Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.  The program features works by Handel; Concerti Grossi Opus 6, Number 7; Opus 3 Number 3; Ballet Music from 'Alcina'; Purcell's Fantasy Upon One Note in F; In Nomine in G and Chacony in G; then back to Handel with Concerti Grossi  Opus 3, Number 3; Toegift interlude and the finale is Opus 6,  Number 5.  This was the Sunday Morning Concert recorded on October 28, 2012.  First Chair Violinist Jan Willem de Vriend is both Concert Master and Conductor in this performance.  Then this being Friday, it is time once more to entice you with this inspiring collection of lithesome lads and muscular model men who are Naked or Nearly So while lounging about the page for your visual appreciation.  Thanks for spending part of your day here at Nichevo. Be sure to check in on the weekend for this week's review of the Best of the Web This Week.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!

Lazy Day

I must confess some laziness in getting this post up today.  I had the unusual pleasure of Sunday night off and I have been piddling around not doing much of anything.  In fact I have been asleep at the keyboard for the last couple of hours instead of working feverishly to get this up and out to you guys.  I hope you will forgive me my laziness when you take a cruise down the page to check out all the guys on display clad (more or less) in their best Monday's Undies for your perusal and approval.  For musical accompaniment to your cruising, I have a classic recording of Piano Concerto Number 5 in E Flat Major 'Emperor'  by Ludwig von Beethoven from a 1980 concert by Alfred Brendel at the famed Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Concertgebouw Orchestra under the direction of Bernard Haitink.  For now, I think I will let you take your cruise down the page while I take another nap, lol.  Thanks for hanging around until I got here.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
