While I had a fairly quiet weekend, there was some news of note that I thought I would like to share with you today. The best news was the 'Baby Born With HIV Apparently Cured, Say Scientists' after an aggressive medication regime beginning just 30 hours after birth. The scientists were describing the case of a child from Mississippi who's now 2 1/2 and has
been off medication for about a year with no signs of infection. This is the second known case of someone being cured of HIV/AIDS.
GLAAD has announced the none other than 'Madonna will present CNN's Anderson Cooper with the Vitto Russo award for openly gay media professionals'. Madonna, who has long been an advocate for LGBT Equality, will present the award on March 16 in New York City. The award is named after Vito Russo, one of the founders of GLAAD.
In Towleroad.com's story about Gay Demographics, the discussions is about the fact that Finally! The slowly growing statistics on LGBT Americans are being put to good use. As you can see by the graphic above created with the results of the latest Gallup Poll, our visibility is growing, even in places where we are not especially welcome, which is good news indeed.
In another blow to the credibility of the Catholic Church as a 'bastion of morality', Scotland's former Cardinal, Keith O'Brien, admits the allegations of his sexual misconduct with 4 priests under his influence were true. Cardinal O'Brien was rabidly homophobic in his role as the top Catholic in the UK. In a statement released on Sunday he said:
Finally in book news, some of the best books in the mystery genre have been written by openly Gay Latino Novelist Michael Nava. In the series, author Michael Nava crafted one of the most unlikely of literary heroes: Henry Rios, a Gay, Latino criminal attorney with a passion for justice. Himself an outsider, Rios acted on behalf of those without a voice, often wrongly accused of crimes. The big news about the series of books is that they are now available in ebook and Kindle formats making them more widely available than ever. If you love a good mystery, then you can't go wrong in reading this excellent series of books. Michael Nava also has a new series coming out that starts with 'The City of Palaces' of which the first three chapters are available on line to give you a preview of the historical novel series set in Mexico and the US between 1897 and 1925.

However, I wish to take this opportunity to admit that there have been times that my sexual conduct has fallen below the standards expected of me as a priest, archbishop and cardinal.
To those I have offended, I apologise and ask forgiveness.
To the Catholic Church and people of Scotland, I also apologise.
I will now spend the rest of my life in retirement. I will play no further part in the public life of the Catholic Church in Scotland."

Daniel Guilet (1899-1990) Played in the Calvet string quartet and
accompanied Maurice Ravel before he formed the "Guilet String Quartet"
in 1942. He combined playing in that quartet with the position of first
violin in Toscanini's NBC symphony orchestra. Strange enough, Guilet
