Factors In The Equation

I am a little closer to a decision today than yesterday but have yet to gather enough data. My partner in the moving company finally got back in country last night but as yet we have not had a chance to talk. I want to see what he has to put on the table and compare it to what the hotel has to offer before jumping off the deep end. The rat and I were supposed to talk today but I had to sub for him at the desk this morning as some biggies from the company were here to discuss dismantling the properties and what could be shipped where for whose usage. I have the basics of the offer as another of the agents in my position who is following the rat to Shreveport has told me what they offered him. It is a livable wage plus free rent, but I want to know if there are any benefits that are included or available at reasonable cost. I also have to ask about the pet policy as I have Miss Thing to consider also. The package does include moving me down there at company expense so that will not be a worry. I was told we would nail down the specifics in the next couple of days. He did tell me he is taking two weeks vacation and I could stay in the hotel down there for free until he comes back and puts me on the schedule. There are also 4 other company properties in Shreveport which leaves open the possibility of employment at a location not managed by him. So by the weekend I should have enough data to decide. Of course that would mean a little fluctuation in my posting while I resettle if I decide to move with the company. Gal Pal is advocating for the move as she sees it as advantagious to me. I am undecided but leaning in that direction. I thank all of you who have offered your advice to me about the situation. I must mention that although the scurrilous rat is just that, at least that is a known factor and can be dealt with. I know what makes him tick and what it takes to keep on his good side. Our only real problem has been the rent deal here and the lack of communication about the real progress on the closing. It would have been nice to have had a definitive date sooner than we did. I would also like to have had a clearer understanding of why all of the sudden I had to start paying rent when I had not had to for so long. I suppose it will all come out in the wash in the next couple of days, at least that is my hope. There is a lot to be said for continued employment and a secure living situation during a time when the economy is struggling. All factors to be weighed and evaluated before coming to a final decision in the next few days. I will keep you posted.

I worked last night from 3-11 then had a surprise guest right when I was getting ready to retire that kept me up late. Then I had too much on my mind so I could not readily go to sleep. Then once I finally got to sleep, within a half hour I received the call asking me to sub for two hours which extended to three hours. I still have to work the midnight shift from 10-6 tonight so my body is reeling a little but I am going to take a nap after I get this posted so I should be in a little better shape than just now. Lightning Strikes

Two weeks ago yesterday lightning struck the property where I live right on the area where the router that serves my area was located and fried it. It was finally repaired and operational yesterday, but as I worked 16 hours, I did not have time to post. I have managed to catch up with Ryan and Mike over at Boys Are Ugly. Mike is progressing well in rehab and even posted something last week. Ryan is a little under the weather but getting better ( he is horny for Mike so that is a good sign). I have not caught up on my email ( about 400 or so to go) or the news so I don't have any brilliant commentary for today but I did create a slide show from random gatherings and reader submissions for your enjoyment at the end of this post. I have some things that I am working on to post for you but they have yet to come to fruition. I am off the next couple of days so I will work on some major posts and hopefully the connection will survive the Texas weather for a little while and I can post them for you.

For those of you in the Dallas area there is a News 8 special on at 7 pm concerning the cost of George's war to the people of the state of Texas. It promises to be informative and disturbing at the same time. Of course most of the s*** that George pulls is disturbing in one way or the other, so why am I not surprised that the cost of his war for us here would be any different.
