Everyone has a story. Hell, that is what blogging is mostly about, people telling their stories in the best way they know how. In fact, even the English word history is a contraction of 'his story' (sexist I know, women have stories, too!). If it was not for the written word, most of the stories of the past would not have been heard. With the invention of sound recording in the late 19th Century, another way of preserving 'his story' among other things was born.
History is full of famous people and events recorded for posterity. But what about the common folk. Millions of people are living today and billions more have lived in the past. Most living their lives without fame or fortune, but who nonetheless have a story to tell. Most are never heard.
By now, all of you have probably seen one or another of the TED Talks where people share their stories of what is important to them, has changed their lives, could change your lives or even the world. Each year TED gives a one million dollar prize to a TED Talker whose idea could change the lives of those he touches and around the world. Enter one Dave Isay, the 2015 TED Prize winner. He, too, has a story. His begins with his Dad's story. Dave's Dad was Gay and was at Stonewall. Dad's story begat the idea that has formed Dave's life work, but I will let Dave tell you the story himself:
