While I Was Sleeping...

I was pretty much of a slug yesterday, sleeping a lot.  However, while I was sleeping my day away, there was quite of bit of political action as it was election day in most places.  The results were a big bag of good news for the forces of progress.  Seattle elected its first openly Gay Mayor in Ed Murray while Houston's openly Lesbian Mayor Anise Parker handily won reelection.  In Virginia, the Tea Party and religious wing nuts took a big hit as Democrat Terry McAuliffe defeated rabidly homophobic Ken Cuccinelli to win the Governor's office while religionist and wing nut E.W. Jackson lost his bid for Lt. Governor to his Democratic opponent, Ralph Northam.  In New Jersey however, Marriage Equality opponent Republican Chris Christie won his reelection bid.  The good news there is that Marriage Equality is already the law of the land in New Jersey and there is nothing he can do about it. 

In other news on the Marriage Equality front, the Illinois House passed an amended bill and sent it back to the Senate which rapidly approved it, sending it on to the Governor who is expected to sign the measure into law.  Illinois becomes state number 15 with Marriage Equality as law of the land.  Meanwhile, over in Hawaii, the citizen's fillibuster of wing nuts, religionists and homophobes was unsuccessful in preventing the Marriage Equality bill from moving out of Committee and onto the floor of the House where the measure is expected to pass and be sent on to the Senate.  The Senate is also expected to pass the measure and the Governor is expected to sign it into law.  Hawaii would then become state number 16 with Marriage Equality.  Marriages will begin next June in Illinois and Hawaii could have Marriages beginning in December.  All in all a very good day for Marriage Equality as now roughly one third of these United States provide Equality for All their Citizens.

Anticipation...

Moving Day is tomorrow and both Will and I are excited about moving on up to the West Side of Fort Worth to a much better neighborhood than where we have spent the last 4 years.  Preparations are fully underway as we are packing everything up to move first thing in the morning.  In just a little while I will be heading over to the new place to sign the lease, get our parking passes and orient myself as to the location of the mailboxes, laundry rooms and the nearest pool!  I pick up the truck this evening so that we do not have to wait until U-Haul opens to start loading up.  We want to get the move over and done with before the heat of the day sets in, so we should be all unloaded by noontime at the latest. The Cable Man is due out between 1 and 3 PM so we should be back on line late this afternoon and be ready to publish this week's Best of  the Web This Week on time Saturday morning.  This a real step up for us and the anticipation is 'killing' us.  I have already written and scheduled tomorrow's post so you guys don't miss out on any of the music or the men just because I am out liftin' and totin'.  I best be getting back to work packing stuff, I do still have to work tonight also.
