Manic Monday

What started out as a mellow Monday Morning has turned into on hectic day already.  So I am making a guerrilla run at these pages, dropping off the Music, the Men and then off we go again.  So your Monday with  Mozart features two of his Piano Concerti.  Posted down below is Piano Concerto Number 20 in D Minor, K 466 with an exuberant performance by Mitsuko Uchida conducting Camerata Salzburg from the Keyboard.  Over on my tumblr I have Mozart't Piano Concert Number 21, K 467 'Elvira Madigan' with a performance Maurizio Pollini accompanied by Ricardo Muti and the Orchestra filarmonica della Scala.  As for the Men, you will find the skivvie clad skin fest called Monday's Undies posted down below for your viewing pleasure.  Over on my tumblr, Your Hottie of the Day! reminds us "Sweet Things Are Made Of This".  Thanks for the visit, see you again on Hump Day,  Until next time as always, Enjoy!

Monday: Oliver, Mutter & Mozart

I had a quite weekend mostly watching videos and doing as little as possible.  As a result, I am feeling fairly refreshed and ready to take on the week once again.  Before we get into your Monday with Mozart, I thought I would offer you a bit of comic relief to brighten the day.  On last night's Last Week Tonight,  Host John Oliver turned his investigative eye on the world of Televangelism.  In what is perhaps his funniest segment ever, John hoists these religious charlatans on there own petard.  I know I sure got a barrel of laughts out of it.  Watch and laugh for yourselves:

I loved the send up of local legends Robert Tilton and Kenneth Copeland, both of whom are the slimiest of snake oil salesmen around.  Yet people send send these guys money all the time.  I would rather send my money to The Church of Perpetual Exemption. (Like I would do something that stupid anyway, lol) I would stand as much a chance of being blessed there as I would at any of the other charlatans dissed by Oliver.  So Sad, but So True! 

Now, on to Monday with Mozart where I once again feature the wonderfully talented Anne-Sophie Mutter who masterfully performs her entire repertoire.  Today, posted down below, Ms Mutter and frequent  musical partner Lambert Orkis perform Four Sonatas for Piano and Violin off of their 4 CD set of all of Mozarts Violin Sonatas.  Included in the play list are the Sonatas in F Major, K.376; in E Flat Major, K.302; in G Major, K.379 and in B Flat Major, K.454.  Over on my tumblr, Ms Mutter is backed by the Camerata Salzburg Orchestra for their performance of Mozart's final Violin Concerto, Number 5 in A Major, K219.

Mea Culpa & Miscellany

I must begin this week by saying I am sorry about being MIA from these pages last week.  However, some issues cropped up that necessitated taking some 'me time' to deal with, so I did.  I will try to get back on track this week with regular postings, but will take it on a day by day basis for the time being.  I have been woefully negligent in keeping up with the news cycle although I am somewhat aware of the earthquake in Nepal and the arrest of 6 cops in Baltimore after yet another death of a black man at the hands of "law enforcement officers".  I also noticed that SCOTUS took up oral arguments in the Marriage Equality cases before it with a decision expected next month.  All indications are favorable for a favorable outcome, but let's not count our chickens before they hatch.  As for the rest of it, I will just have to catch up as I can.  

I did have the distinct pleasure of buying smaller pants last week.  My appetite has decreased somewhat and I am eating about half of what I have normally been eating.  This of course has had its benefits in weight loss.  Coupled with all the exercise I get around the store, I am slimming down nicely.  I bought size 34 jeans as my 36's were sliding off my ass even with a belt.  I am happy to report that the 34's are not exactly snug either.  I have not felt a pair of 34 jeans loose on my hips in more years than I can care to remember, so I won't.  I don't want to press my luck by buying a pair of 32's just yet, but maybe someday...

I think musically this week we will explore the many Violin Concerti  and Sonatas that have been composed by this versatile instrument and staple of the orchestra.  Beginning with your Monday with Mozart, both here and on my tumblr.  Here, Anne-Sophie Mutter exquisitely performs 4 of Mozart's 5 Violin Concerti accompanied by the Camerata Salzburg Orchestra.  Included in the play list are Violin Concerto Numbers 1 in B Flat Major; 3 in G Major; 4 in D major and 5 in A Major.  I could not find a video of Ms Mutter's performance of Number 2 in D Major, however I did find an excellent performance of Number 2 by Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica recorded live at the Mozarteum in Salzburg which you will find on my tumblr.

Things I Like

Good Morning and Happy Monday to you all.  It is my day off again finally, and none too soon as I am just a little tired.  I picked up an additional 3 hours yesterday when the boss asked me to stay until 11.  Extra hours is always a good thing and I like that.  At any rate, I am glad I am off and I don't plan on doing anything too strenuous at all.  I am going to run my buddy J over to the college to finish up his registration for classes beginning next week.  That won't take much effort on my part.  I will sit around the lounge area near the student union reading my book and enjoying the eye candy as they scurry about the campus.  What is not to like about this most pleasant diversion for the day? 

Later on tonight I have several small cuts of steak from my Mother's freezer that I am going to cut into strips, marinate, then stir them up in some teriyaki beef fried rice for dinner.  Yummers!  After that, who knows what will go on in our little corner of the complex.  We have become pretty tight with our neighbors and there is a lot of interaction back and forth across the sidewalk.  We like to think of it as our own little cooperative community corner with lots of sharing between all parties.  It sure makes home life more pleasant and I really like that. 

Speaking of things I really like, we come to the entertainment portion of this broadcast.  This being Monday, it is of course time for your Monday With Mozart to get the week started.  Today's performance features German Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who, since her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic, is one of the most prolific and talented female Violinists in the world.  She is accompanied in today's video by the Camerata Salzburg Orchestra as she performs Mozart's Masterful Violin Concerto Number 5 in A Major, K219.  You may also hear Ms Mutter and Camerata Salzburg as they perform Mozart's Violin Concerto Number 1, K 207 over on my tumblr.  The first concerto illustrates Mozart's youthful spirited exuberance so evident in his early works.  The fifth concerto is  Mozart's Violin Masterpiece that is a staple of most Violinist's repertoire and  Ms Mutter's performance shows how exquisitely she has mastered its performance.
