Wicked Weather Weekend

It was a weekend full of decidedly wicked weather here in North TX with lots of sleet, snow ice and rain at various times.  That meant it was time for some favorite cold weather activities.  Things like snow ball fights with hot chocolate and s'mores afterward, curling up with a good book, napping at will, and snuggling by the fire with your sweetie (maybe even making love if luck be ours).  I managed to while a way the hours with Internet surfing, fellowship with a few friends and the aforementioned napping at will.

One thing I did not do is crack my reader for any news.  So I don't really know what is going on in the world right now, I am sure I will discover what is in the due course of events.  However I will not be doing any frantic running to and fro today as my car is in the shop.  Remember the incident where my car inexplicably disabled all the electronics?  Well it turns out that was caused by a defect which GM is now repairing.  What it is is some little part prevented the electronic signal from the transmission when in park to the ignition causing it to discharge the battery disabling the electronics and preventing the removal of the key or the starting of the car.  A quick jump start gets you out of the situation, but it is still a bit disconcerting to have it happen when it does.  Hopefully after today, it will not occur again.  So after I get this up, I think I will take another one of those naps I told you about.

But first, your Monday with Mozart features a classic performance by the Amadeus Quartet plus Cecil Aronowitz on Viola, filmed in London in June 1966 performing Mozart's String Quintet Number 3 in G Minor, K516.  Over on my tumblr you may hear Mozart's Oboe Quartet in F Major with a live perfromance from 2012 by Christoph Gerbeth, Oboe; Kirill Sharapov, Violin; Andrii Chop, Viola and Anna Nuzha, Cello.

Then to get your blood to pumping on a Monday, check the majorly discreet beefcake in their finest Monday's Undies in the post down below.  It that doesn't take you over the top, then there is the 'Neon and Nips' Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr.  Thanks for the visit, see you again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!

A Car Conundrum

As the thunderstorms rage outside my window, I find myself in a Car Conundrum this morning.  As I stated in yesterday's post, my former employer has 'requested' that I come to his location to sign a contract for the money I owe him on the car I have driven for the last five years.  A little history of the transaction in question might help to enlighten you on my quandary.  I first came into possession of my current mode of transportation in the early stages of my employment at the franchise for which I wrote the business plan.  I was on a salary of $500 per week and had managed to pay almost half of the agreed upon sum necessary to obtain the title to said vehicle when I had my TIA and spent a week in the hospital and a week at home before being able to return to work.  At the time of my attack, I had been working 6 days a week (2 morning shifts, 2 afternoon shifts and 2 midnight shifts).  Working this grueling schedule for a year essentially brought about my attack.  Unfortunately, my former employer did not nor does he currently offer any medical insurance benefits to his employees.  Having missed two weeks worth of work completely fucked up my financial situation.  Upon returning to work, he reduced my schedule as well as my salary, first to 5 days at $450, then to 4 days at $350 then finally to four days or less at $9 per hour.  In essence, this cut my income in half causing me to not be able to catch up the rent on the apartment I was living in at the time forcing me to move to the apartment I just moved out of which were to say the least, less than ideal accommodations.   Given the state of the economy, one does not give a job up without one to replace it, and no one seemed to be in a hurry to hire an aging man who had just had a stroke.  Therefore I was virtually trapped in a job that did not pay me enough to cover my expenses and pay off the car.  To his credit, he never really pressed me for the money because he knew he was not paying me enough to be able to pay him off.  However when he challenged me to find a new position and told me no one would hire me because I was too old, I set out to prove him wrong in his assumption that I was not worthy of anything more than what he would condescend to allow me to have.  I was successful in my quest to remove myself from his manipulations and provide myself not only with a new apartment but a new job as well that will pay me enough to live on.  An additional bonus is the fact that I will begin receiving my SS Retirement Benefits starting in August.  When I gave him my 2 week notice, we verbally agreed to my paying off the car after I started receiving my SS Benefits.  I have come to discover what he said to my face is a whole 'nother story than the actions he has taken since I removed myself from underneath his thumb and the ones he intends to take.  He is basically pissed off that I was able to find another job, thus removing myself from his manipulations and machinations.  Therefore he is being a spiteful and vengeful bastard whose goal is to fuck me one more time in order to make it more difficult to get to work in a timely fashion to fulfill my obligations to my new employer.  It is my firm belief that if I do indeed allow him to lure me to his location, he will fail to produce any contract that would be beneficial to me in any way which, if produced, I then would refuse to sign.  This would cause him to repossess the vehicle, thus leaving me stranded on foot in the middle of the hood.

Because I believe I know what his vengeful actions are to be, based on his duplicitous actions since I gave him my notice of intent to vacate, I went seeking a solution to my situation.  Enter my Mother, stage left.  As you may remember from earlier posts, My Mother was gravely ill at the beginning of this year but has since begun to recover.  After leaving the hospital for two months in a rehabilitation center, she is now at home under the care of a nurse once a week, a hospice lady 5 days a week and meals on wheels.  In her garage sits a virtually new Nissan Versa which she has been unable to drive since she fell ill.  I called my Mother on Sunday to broach a possible solution to my situation involving the use of her Versa either by borrowing or renting from her until my SS Benefits begin, when I can then purchase the vehicle of my choice at almost any car lot in the area.  Unfortunately she had refused to cooperate in this, thinking that she will be able to once again drive her car before I can receive my SS Benefits.  At present she is mostly confined to a wheel chair and also tethered to an oxygen machine for 22 hours a day.  She has been practicing walking by moving from the hospital bed set up in her living room to the bathroom with her walker.  The distance is about 25 feet and she does slowly cover the distance, however being able to barely walk 25 feet does not engender hope that she can safely operate a moving vehicle at anytime in the near future.  In fact, my brother who is handling her affairs since she fell ill has hidden the keys from her in order to prevent her from hurting herself or someone else because she is incapable of safely operating her vehicle.  She called me yesterday to confirm her refusal.  She explained her reasoning as stated above and then proceeded to tell me what would be contained in a purchase agreement for my present vehicle.  She has never met my former employer and thus has never experienced his manipulations and machinations.  Yet she cannot seem to understand my reluctance to enter in any further financial arrangements with him.  At this point I do not trust him any further than I can throw Mount Rushmore which is to say not at all.  He has proven himself to be spiteful, vengeful and desirous of the opportunity to  manipulate me to his advantage one more time.  I refuse to be his victim any longer thus leaving me in my present conundrum.

Do I succumb to his 'request' to deliver the vehicle to his location where he can repossess it, thus bending me over the barrel to allow him to fuck me without mercy one more time and leave me stranded in the hood?  Do I call his bluff, retain the vehicle and hold him to our verbal agreement to pay off the car when my SS Benefits kick in?  Do I simply remove the parking sticker from the vehicle allowing my apartment complex to tow the vehicle, mail him the keys and inform him of the towing event forcing him to expend funds to recover the vehicle?  Do I abandon the vehicle in a parking lot or the side of the road somewhere thus causing a towing event and the expenditure of funds to recover the vehicle?  I would be interested in what you guys think I should do.  If you have any suggestions as to a solution to this conundrum, please leave a comment on this post with any suggestions you may have.

October Is Jam Packed

Wow, October is just beginning, yet it is jam packed full of things and activities that are relevant to all of us in our community.  October is not only LGBT History Month, it is also Breast Cancer Awareness  Month and Anti Bullying Month with the week of Oct 15-19 set aside for GLSEN's Ally Week to celebrate those allied with us, culminating in Spirit Day on Oct 19.  Spirit Day is the day to wear Purple for People as a sign of support for those that are or have been bullied.  Speaking of Allies, there is a excellent story on Out.com written by Cyd Zeigler of OutSports.com about the Minnesota Viking's Punter.  Chris Klewe: Kick Ass will give you some insight to the man who has become my favorite NFL Ally along with some hot shirtless pics that I am sure you will like also.  Good Looking, Eloquent and an Ally, what's not to like?  Now I realize that LGBT people are not the only ones being bullied in this world, however I have a video that has gone viral about one lady in the media's standing up to a bully.  WKBT anchor Jennifer Livingston took a moment during Tuesday's morning newscast (Oct. 2, 2012) to directly address a recent email she received from a viewer complaining about her weight.  Even Ellen Degeneres tweeted this video to her million plus followers and invited Jennifer to appear on her popular afternoon talk show.  I loved the video and I think you will also.

While we are on the subject of bullying, Winona State University is standing up to those on the far right by refusing to apologize for sponsoring an appearance by Dan Savage who is under attack for a statement he made during that appearance: "Every dead Gay kid is a victory for the Family Research Council".  The FRC is of course headed up by that seriously homophobic Tony  Perkins who as Dan says "tells the parents of queer kids to do what Tony Perkins damn well knows drives those kids to suicide" .  Click on the link to read about the brouhaha and see that video for yourself.

I also received an email from my friend, Elliot London, with an update on the Friend Project.  The press release reads as follows:

(LOS ANGELES - OCT. 2, 2012) - It's no doubt difficult being a teenager in today's society, especially a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered teen.
But through it all, having strong allies and friends does tend to make it easier.

Once a victim of childhood bullying and homophobia himself, film director Elliot London (The Wedding Dance) has embarked today on an empowering and eye-opening campaign across America, hoping to bring awareness to the plight of LGBT youth bullying, and the importance of support systems.

The "Friend Project" is a new campaign showcasing two separate, yet thematically connected digital vignettes from two teenagers in different parts of rural America sharing their raw and tear-jerking stories of growing up gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered in the conservative heartland of America.

Starting today, each week for the next two weeks, London will share a new video with the public, with the ultimate goal of bringing these stories and others to life through an upcoming feature film entitled Friend.

In a completely hands-on and hybrid approach, both teenagers are also acting as creative liaisons on the project, having helped integrate their own life stories into the script.

"It's a film that will bring the narrative and the reality into one," says London. "We will be integrating a point of view from real life teenage experiences, rather than from a room of writers in Hollywood."

He continues, "It's so important that we continue to support and foster true independent American cinema. Unlike many other influential nations, we do not have the luxury of much government funding, grants and support they do for indie cinema, especially in a niche market."

In the first film, viewers will get to meet Joseph, a timid, yet courageous 16-year-old boy from Tennessee who once thought suicide was the only way out from the pain and torment that bullying carved into his impressionable young soul.

Anyone interested in becoming a part of Friend is encouraged to visit the project's IndieGoGo campaign page at indiegogo.com/friendproject All donations are tax-deductible, as this film is being supported through Fractured Atlas, a registered 501(c)3.
The first video Elliot talks about is just below this paragraph, be sure to have some tissue handy, as Joseph will tug at your heart strings.  It literally brought tears to my eyes in some parts as Joseph shares his pain and his courage when coming out openly gay as a teen living in Tennessee.  Elliot tells of his first meeting with Joseph: "I met Joseph outside of Knoxville for an on camera interview. The moment I left, I could not get him out of my mind. He told me his story with such innocence that I knew that he needed to present it to the world. To show teens that it is ok to be who you are."  Watch the video and if you can, befriend the Friend Project at indiegogo.com/friendproject.

I know I have been fairly verbose today, but there is so much going on that I just could not help myself.  Just one more thing before we get to the music and the men.  Tonight is the first Presidential Debate between Mitt Romney (boo, hiss!!) and President Obama (thunderous applause!!!) moderated by Jim Lehrer and carried on most of your local PBS stations and other outlets at 8 PM Texas Time.  I will be watching, how about you?

Finally for today I have a play list that contains a classic performance by the Amadeus Quartet plus Cecil Aronowitz on Viola, filmed in London in June 1966 performing String Quintet Number 3 in G Minor, K516, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  Immediately following the play list is a wonderful collection of lusciously Lickable Lads for your visual appreciation.  That's a wrap for today, thanks for stopping by and we will see you tomorrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
