Burnt Candles, Notes on the Inauguration, Vivaldi & Tuesday's Temptations

I was so completely exhausted when I got home from work that I had to take a nap before I could even put together this post.  I have been burning the candle at both ends with spending so much time at the hospital with Mother all day and working all night that I fear I have burnt the candle out, almost completely.  So today I am taking a day for me to catch up on my rest and to start thinning out the backlog on my reader (it is up over 2000 articles now) in an effort to have some photographs for you to review this weekend.  It will take me some time, a lot more than I can devote just today, but with due diligence I will have it well in hand by the weekend.

My Mother continues to make progress health wise with the doctors looking to release her to rehab by the end of the week.  Her goal as I posted yesterday is to be back in her own home by March.  My Mother is nothing if not a determined woman.   She has been precinct chairman and election judge in her democratic precinct for 42 years and as such, she had received an invitation to attend the inauguration of President Obama yesterday.  Of course she was unable to attend, however, we watched it together on TV from her room in the hospital.  It was a pretty good show with all the pomp and circumstance one would expect from a signature event such as this.

I was particularly impressed with the President's call for Equality in his inaugural speech saying "Our journey is not complete until our Gay Brothers and Sisters are treated like anyone else under the law.  For if we are all truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to each other must be equal as well."  If that is not a clarion call for Marriage Equality, then I have not heard one.  It was a historical moment also as it is the first time Marriage Equality has been called for (or even mentioned) in an inaugural address.  Let's hope Congress and the Supreme Court were actually listening to the President's words instead of their IPods during his speech.  Only time will tell, and I will be watching and waiting along with the rest of you as events unfold in the near future for all of us.

Your play list for today is from Antonio Vivaldi's "La Notte" Concerti for Bassoon and Oboe. Included are Concerti RV481, 461, 545, 498, 451 and 501 with today's performance by Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca on period instruments featuring Sergio Azzolini as the soloist.

To complete today's post is this collection of absolutely gorgeous guys who are your Tuesday's Temptations for this week.  Thanks for spending a part of your day here at Nichevo.  See you again tomorrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
