There is a lot to talk about today even though I have in no way scratched the surface of the backlog in my feed reader. First off we know who the teams are who will be competing in SBXLVII down in NOLA. The San Francisco 49ers (Boo! Hiss!) beat the Atlanta Falcons coming from 17 points down to win 28-24 in the NFC Championship Game. While in the AFC Championship Game at New England, The Patriots succumbed to the Baltimore Ravens who were down 13-7 at the half but pulled away in the second half to win 28-13. This prevented Tom Brady being crowned the God of Football (Thank God for That!). Now let's hope the Ravens can besmirch the perfect record of the 49ers in the SB series and bring the NFL title to Baltimore, Ray Lewis, super ally Brendon Ayanbedejo and the rest of the Ravens. (Can you tell who I will be rooting for, lol!)
Today is the annual Celebration of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday and I think it is entirely appropriate that we also celebrate the Second Inaugural of the First Black President on this day. Both are/were Men of Vision and Persistence. I look forward to the day when we can celebrate the First Gay President on Harvey Milk's birthday. That one will be a while coming I think, but it is something to work for, now isn't it?
My Mother continues to make progress in her recovery with the doctors talking about 3 or four more days in the hospital before being released to a rehabilitation facility to get her back on her feet again. She has set a goal to be back home and functioning mostly normally by March.
They are changing my work schedule once again. I am getting 5 days this week for the second straight week. However starting with the new time period on Friday my new off days are Sunday, Tuesday and Friday which means I work Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. I still get 4 days work and 3 days off, but no consecutive days off. We will see how this works out for me.
Your musical masterpiece for today is the only Violin Concerto composed by Ludwig von Beethoven with a marvelous performance by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Fabio Luisi and featuring Arabella Steinbacher on Solo Violin.
