I am sure you guys remember the New Family Structures Study by University of Texas Associate Professor Mark Regnerus that was roundly criticized by almost every expert in the psychology, psychiatry and family studies fields. Regnerus' study found that children of LGBT Couples fared worse than those being raised by married heterosexual couples. Well, it seems the University of Texas is wholly embroiled in controversy and scandal concerning the ethical conduct of its researchers. In The Regnerus Scandal Ripped Wide Open As UT Confesses to Major, Systemic Ethics Failures, author Scott Rose documents the scandal and it investigation both by UT itself (major fail) and an independent investigative body. It seems that all of Professor Regnerus' research and conclusions were bought and paid for misconstructions and blatant falsehoods by our opponents on the 'Christian' right in the fight for Equal Rights. It always amazes me how far these hypocritical assholes who claim the name of Christ while embracing the actions of the devil will go to denigrate, ostracize and marginalize we folks of the LGBT persuasion. Their perfidy has now brought down the research apparatus of one of my favorite Universities. While I have always been a UT fan and I understand the extreme competition for research dollars, misconstructions and falsehoods bought and paid for by less than ethical people for their own nefarious purposes is not the way to garner either respect for the results of your research or more dollars to support what has turned out to be an unethically run research department. When I was growing up, being a Texas native, I was living and breathing pride in all things Texan. Somewhere along the line, Texas jumped off the deep end and is no longer a symbol of pride and prosperity but rather one of conservative wing nuttery and idiocy. Makes me wonder why I still live here....
On a more positive note, Evan Wolfson from Freedom to Marry documents the successes we have had in the fight for Marriage Equality with the Top Ten Moments for Marriage in 2012. Marriage Equality had a great year this year and we need to build on this momentum and make 2013 an even better year in the fight for Equal Rights.
While were are celebrating Marriage Equality victories, lets take a rational look at 9 Amazing Signs We're Headed Towards Sane Drug Policy. We have lost the drug war, it is time for the government to realize this and begin to reasonably replace prohibition with effective legalization and regulation. This would reduce the criminality of normal people, eliminate illegal profits that now go to drug cartels and greedy banks, and generate much needed revenue to provide adequate services to those who need them.
I guess that is all I have to rant or rave about today (can you tell I have spent a lot of the last two days catching up on my news feeds?). So let's move on to some beautiful baroque and hot, hot, hot hunks, shall we?
Your play list for today is from another of my Baroque Favorites, comprised of Concerti Grossi, Opus 6, Numbers 8, 1 and 2 by Arcangelo Corelli. The performance today is by the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra of Pforzheim conducted by Paul Angerer. Hot on the heels of your play list is this week's collection of nubile youths, handsome hunks and daddy bears who are totally Naked or Nearly So. All these visual delights are lounging about and are sure to inspire your desire somewhere along your scroll down the page. Thanks for spending part of your day here at Nichevo, be sure to check back in tomorrow to see what I have found in my web wanderings worthy enough to be included in the Best of the Web This Week. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
