There has been a lot of encouraging news of late in the battle for Marriage Equality. From the UK to Uraquay, more and more nations in the world are seeking to do right by same sex couples by introducing or enacting legislation to grant Marriage Equality. Just recently, SCOTUS has agreed to take two cases for oral argument (Edith Windsor, DOMA and Prop 8). However, the US Congress can save us from all the hand wringing and worry about SCOTUS doing the right thing by enacting legislation to repeal DOMA, paving the way for Federal Recognition of Marriage Equality. People For the American Way has a petition going that asks the President and Congress to do just that. The petition reads as follows:
Dear President Obama and Congressional Leaders:
It's time to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). At this moment of change and progress, it's time to undo a serious mistake made by Congress 14 years ago. The federal government has no business discriminating against loving families by selectively withholding the roughly 1,300 legal protections that only legal civil marriage affords.
It's time for the President to fulfill his promise to the American people to eliminate DOMA. And it's time for Congress to show leadership on this issue and send him long overdue legislation to repeal this relic of hatred.
You can sign this petition by clicking here. I hope you will add your voice to the many Americans urging the President and Congress to do the right thing.

For your musical appreciation today, we turn to German Baroque Composer Georg Philipp Telemann with his Oeverture in A Minor for Recorder, Strings and Basso Continuo. Our performance today is by Carin von Heerden on Recorder and Conducting the L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra. Then to inspire your fantasies of dynamite in denim, following the video is this collection of lithesome lads, hunky bears, a punk, a couple of cowboys and some almost too beautiful boys who make up this week's delightful display of Men In Jeans. Thanks for once again spending some of your day here at Nichevo, please do come again tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
