Snafu, Friends and Family

I did not get a whole lot accomplished yesterday because my direct deposit did not show up in my bank account as it usually does on Thursday mornings.  I always know when it does when I get the email that my check stub has been posted on line at paystubportal.com.  I talked to the boss, but he was clueless as to what had happened because accounting had already taken the payroll money from his account.  As of this moment, it still has not shown up.  Although this did not prevent me from paying the rent on time, it has left everything else up in the air until this snafu is straightened out.  Annoying as this delay may be, I am sure I will survive until accounting coughs up the money I am due.

Meanwhile, life goes on.  Elliot London sent me a teaser video for the 'Friend' project featuring the Kelly Clarkson song 'Stronger' which is posted just below these words.

In other news, the Civil Unions bill in the Colorado Senate was passed out of the committee that rejected it just last year with the swing vote in a 6-5 decision by Larimer County Republican Representative B. J. Nikkel who voted against this same bill last year. Representative Nikkel said after her vote Thursday that she was swayed by the crowd of gay couples who wore red and spent hours sharing painful personal stories of the pains of lacking legal protections.   This paves the way for votes from two other committees (Finance and Appropriations) before it can be sent to the full House for a floor vote.  House Democrats only need one Republican vote for passage and they should have it from Representative Nikkel.  Colorado Governor Hickenlooper has stated he will sign the bill when it arrives on his desk.   This will join Colorado with more than a dozen other states which have approved Civil Unions for LGBT citizens.

Also happening this weekend is an event from the Family Equality Council.  "International Family Equality Day is a celebration of the global LGBT family community. This year, we’ll celebrate the first annual International Family Equality Day on May 6, 2012. Community events will be held in several parts of the U.S., Europe, and beyond. Some of this year’s events include picnics, a press conference, live music, and more!...We encourage families to join us by starting their own traditions on May 6 in celebration of their family pride and ongoing efforts for full family equality."  A full list of events can be found here.  This sure sounds like a good idea to me and a good reason to gather with family, friends and allies for some fun and frolic on a bright Spring Sunday.

To help get your weekend mind set moving in the right direction, I have what is considered to be one of the great pieces of romantic classical music in today's video of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Number 1 in G Minor, Opus 26 by German composer Max Bruch in a superb 2011 performance by violin virtuoso Pinchas Zukerman in concert with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta.  This concerto is the perfect accompaniment to this week's sensual collection of erotically charged photographs of stunningly beautiful men who are Naked or Nearly So.  Have a fabulous weekend being sure to stop by for the weekend review of the Best of the Web This Week tomorrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
