Unusual Opportunities

"Rainbow Sunset"

I had a hard time finding something to write about today. Even when I got up at 3 to try once again to put pen to paper so to speak I was still in a quandary as to what to relate to you today. I could write about George having just 6 days and a wake up left as President as his legacy and empire crumble around him; or I could write about the national "call to service" being proposed for Monday the 19th which is coincidentally MLK Day and the day before the Inauguration of the first African American President as outlined in the email I got from Michelle Obama; or any of many political disaster stories surrounding the RNC and LCR. In the end though inspiration came from Will, although he is still under the weather, never the less sent me some links I found when I turned to my computer this morning.

The first link was to "the greatest job in the world" as advertised by the state of Queensland, Australia. It seems they are looking for a caretaker/explorer to live for 6 months on an island on the Great Barrier Reef. You would be required to walk miles of sandy beaches, snorkel and take pictures of "paradise" and get paid for it. Check it out, it may be for you.

Then the second link he sent was to this page which tells you of an online collaborative effort to form a You Tube Symphony Orchestra of amateur musicians to perform a symphony written especially for the occasion by the composer Tan Dun. The London Symphony Orchestra and Carnegie Hall (where the performance will take place) are on board along with world re known pianist Lang Lang. Below is the video introducing the opportunity to be part of an on line first:

There is also a video of an October performance of the piece by those who have signed up so far along with links to the video blog by members of the orchestra, Tan Dun videos, and LSO Master Classes. You can find their FAQ in .pdf format here and a complete listing of the rules here. All in all an interesting concept that I will watch with anticipation. You can subscribe to their channel and get regular updates in your in box.

Thank you Will for the links and inspiration even in your weakened state your curious mind does not stop in its quest for information. I have a lot of sympathy for him, a bad case of the flu along with a 1 degree Fahrenheit temperature and a -9 degree wind chill blowing around outside. Makes me real glad I live down south this time of year. Get better soon buddy!

This brings us to this weeks edition of Tuesday Temptations to titillate and admire as you scroll down the page. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
