Remembering Our Veterans and the Next Step Along The Way

Viet Nam Veterans Memorial
Washington, DC

Happy Veterans Day (or Remembrance Day in the UK, Canada, and Australia) everyone. Today is the day we stop for a moment to say thank you to all of those who have served in the various uniforms of our country's armed forces. This is also a day to remember those still in uniform wherever they may be in the service of our country. Reach out to a veteran or an active duty service member today, they deserve all we can do to support them. We may not agree on the war, but we can agree our service members deserve the backing of all the people all the time. Too bad George never learned that lesson. The President-elect understands the plight of our service members and veterans after the last few years of over use and under appreciation from the current administration. Speaking of which, did not the new First Couple look good on the portico of the White House yesterday. In the photo below you see our recent past and our immediate future:

Is it just me, or did the Bush's look kinda old and frumpy next to the Obama's? Reminds me of photos of Ike and Mamie next to JFK and Jackie way back when. I know some of you who read this blog are saying Ike and Mamie who? But believe me there was life before 1980 and the advent of the Reagan era, just so you know Ike was President Eisenhower, the last president in the 1950's before JFK was inaugurated in 1961. But I digress....this is an exciting time for history buffs such as myself when so many significant events are shaping the future of our country and the world. The next few months will be filled with many firsts. Lets hope Hate Crimes and ENDA legislation gets off the schnied and maybe even some progress on marriage equality. Keith Olbermann gave a most articulate, eloquent and impassioned Special Comment last night regarding Prop 8 and marriage equality in light of all the protests abounding in the aftermath of its passage. You can watch the video right after the photos below from some of the many protests around the country.

I do not think I need add any words to Keith's, so I will move on to the talent portion of the debate ...er..oops... anyway, in the entertainment portion today I have a video of Listz's La Camponella played live by Russian Concert Pianist Evgeny Kissin.

The GM and I decided to move the timetable up to today for telling Mr Taj of the timing of my impending departure. Mr Taj is currently in Shreveport, so I expect I will hear him scream from there. The advantage to telling him today is he can bring my replacement with him tomorrow on his return to NLR. We decided on today for that reason and the fact the bigger boss will not be here until Thursday. I could not in good conscious wait that long to inform him, so I will let you know tomorrow what fireworks ensue today. I guess now that your Uncle has informed and entertained you, I bet your wondering when I am going to get around to feeding your fantasies and inspiring your libidos. Well fear not, Uncle Gerry has some super hot selections for your Tuesday Temptations this week coming right up. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
