Well what have we got for today? I worked all night but I am off today, so we will see what mischief we can find to get into. We still have nearly a full house with the weekend's activities yet to come. The largest group we have in house are the electrical workers up here from Louisiana doing repair work from all the storms we have had here lately. They have about 35 rooms already and are going to add some more today. Summer is just getting started and it looks to be one full of activities, concerts and tournaments enough to keep us busy until it gets cold again.
I chatted with WS last night. He made it to Omaha in good shape, the bike came through almost totally unscathed and he is now ensconced in his new residence in the frozen north. I know it is spring time but does Nebraska ever get warm? I guess that is something I will have to as WS next time we chat. I am just glad he made it safely to his destination. It is my understanding he did not have the most pleasant of customer service experiences on his journey, but he did arrive with everything intact. His sense of humor seems to have survived the ordeal, so it could not have been that bad in retrospect although it was probably a little stressful at the time.
I have been getting a lot of email here lately regarding the blog. It is really heartening and gratifying to hear from all of you folks out there that like to tune in to what Uncle Gerry has to present on a daily basis. I keep coming back to the pebble in the ocean analogy as it seems to be the most relevant in this instance. I write what is on my mind or in my heart and you guys (and gals!) respond very positively to what I publish. Each post is like that pebble in the ocean. An idea or concept, a funny thought or a serious discussion is put out there and I wait and watch to see where the ripples go. So far, my ripples have reached some highly unlikely shores then returned again to me enriched by the lives and shores in which it has come in contact. I consider each pebble (or post) to be an investment worth making. Often times I am surprised where the ripples go or with whom they come in contact. I am further amazed at the wide variety of diverse personalities that pay regular visits here, each one adding their spice to the mix of inspirations that help to create The Journey That Is Nichevo. As together we discover more of what we are and can be sometimes moving from point to point like a lazy river while at other times we are more like the pounding surf railing against the rocks that oppose us. Come along with us as we travel together down life's road. Keep those emails and comments coming as they are a valuable part of everything that is or will be here at the blog. I thank all of you for taking time out of your day to visit with us here. The word visit in last sentence clicked a switch in my brain to check my stats as I knew we were getting close to 200 thousand visits. Today is the day we went over the top where we now sit with 200,272 visits since the beginning. It took me a little more than a year to reach 100,000 visits and less than 6 months to gather the second 100,000. This means that my base readership will have doubled over the course of this year as compared to last. I think that rocks and it is because of you guys who come by and those of you who tell me what you do and do not like about what you find here. Together we are finding kindred souls in myriad locations all meeting here at Nichevo. What a wonderful world we have here where we can all come together no matter where we may find ourselves physically.
So enough with the talky stuff already, the video aisle is overflowing with content this morning. For a while there yesterday I though I was going to have to delete my Fine Tunes Player because it did not seem to be working and the website seemed to be having difficulties also. So I went to You Tube to find music videos to take up some slack. Fine Tunes has solved whatever it was that was the problem but I found some great videos to show you anyway. The first video is a whimsical look at life with cats from an Engineer's view point. Then we have the two parts of the current episode of Holly Oaks. After that we get political for a minute with the short version of John Edwards endorsing Barack Obama for President. That little bit is followed by the musical selections, the first being a travelogue of Siene, Italy set to an original classical piece, Labyrinth by Barry Mitchell. Then comes Classical Masters which is sort of like a highlight reel of some of your better known classical compositions. Finally we have the first video in a seven part series which introduces you to the Great Classical Composers with illustrations of their style and composition. And if that is not enough, then all of that is followed by some mighty fine selections in the eye candy section. That is it for now, come back tomorrow as we continue on our journey. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
