Politics, Football, Music and Men

Today is mid-term election day.  If you haven't voted early, please be sure to make time to vote today.  Your vote could make the difference in the races important to you.  On last night's show, Rachel Maddow looked at the recent history of mid-term elections of two term Presidents and discusses what could happen if the Republicans take control of the Senate and retain control of the House.  John Oliver on Sunday's edition of Last Week Tonight put the spotlight on state legislative elections and highlighted some of the important (and bizarre) midterm campaigns taking place on the state level.  No matter if your focus is on  local, state or national issues, please take time to vote today if you have not already.

Setting politics aside, yesterday on OutSports there were several interesting articles to which I would like to link you.  There was the article written by Eric Lueshen who gives his first-hand account of being an openly gay football player for the Nebraska Cornhuskers a decade ago in The Gay Kicker and the Homophobe.  There was also Cyd Zigler's analytic report Michael Sam's NFL snub already at an historic level.  Michael was released from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad when they were 6-1, they are now 6-3.  Then there was the story about tiny DIII Willamette College Bearcats (who are unranked) upset of DIII Number 5 Linfield College Wildcats 31-28 with Out Gay Kicker Conner Mertens providing the winning margin on a field goal late in the first half.  It was Linfield's first loss in 42 regular season games dating back to 2008.

Turning to your Musical Moment for today, I have a compilation video of the Best of Dark Classical Music:  Classical Music for Horror Atmosphere put together by HalidonMusic, sort of appropriate for a rainy election day.  Over on my tumblr you will may hear Halidon's compilation of the Best of Classical Love, a compilation of Classical Romantic works.  Unfortunately the composers and performers are not listed, although many of the pieces are familiar to us all.  However, the play lists for Horror and Romance can be found by clicking the links.

Finally for today I have a nummy collection of Tuesday's Temptations on display below the play list for your visual appreciation.  There is also the Sizzlin' Super Hero who is your Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr.  Thanks for the visit, see you tomorrow for Wet Wednesday.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
