Here it is Hump Day once again and the mid term elections are next Tuesday.Election season always brings out some of the most outrageous statements by politicians. This is especially true here in Texas when you have the likes of Senator Ted Cruz regurgitating his anti gay drivel. Then there is US Representative Louie Gohmert whose mutterings are pre-cro-magnon bullshit disguised as 'religious intelligence'. Steven Colbert skewers Gohmert in the video below that illustrates just how fucked up in the head he is (among many others in TX). It would be really truly funny if were not sadly the way he truly believes. We can laugh at him, but we need to vote the idiot out of office.
So my buddy J and I are going to do the whole early voter thing here in just a bit. Of course I will be voting for Wendy Davis for Governor, the last thing we need after lo these many years under the incredibly stupid Rick Perry is Republican Gregg Abbott who is way far to the right, so far in fact that he makes Vladimir Putin seem like a Gay Rights Activist. Needless to say I will be voting against bullshit and for progress fiscally, physically and civily. We will see how things turn out on Tuesday.
You Midweek Musical Moment features a piece I heard on Venice Classic Radio last night and I thought you mall might like it also. It is the String Quartet, Opus 26 by Franz Joseph Haydn know as the Kaiser or Emperor Quartet as the second movement contains the tune that forms the basis of the German National Anthem Haydn wrote for the coronation of a Prussian Prince. Today's performance is by the Takács Quartet who are Gábor Takács-Nagy, 1st violin; Károly Schranz, 2nd violin; Gábor Ormai, viola and András Fejér, cello.
