Evening Concert

Welcome to the weekend and your Saturday at the Symphony Evening Concert.   This week's Symphony performance has Leonard Bernstein leading the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in a live performance from the Great Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.  Tonight's featured work is Symphony Number 2 in D Major, Opus 43 by Finnish Composer Jean Sibelius.  I like a great deal of Sibelius' compositions, most especially his Violin Concerto, but we will get to that another day.  You may also hear Sibelius' Symphony Number 1 in E Minor, Opus 39 with a performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy over on my tumblr.
