An Unwelcome Change

I had an appointment for a visit with the doctor at the VA Friday at 12:45.  The reason for the visit was for what the VA terms vesting.  Basically, vesting is the initial intake screening and examination process.  The doctor and I went over my entire medical history, the results of the blood work I had done last week and the transfer of all my prescriptions to the VA Pharmacy.  The doctor then gave her evaluation and recommended a change in my medications.  In addition to 2000 mg of Metformin, Lisinopril, Gipizide, Crestor and aspirin a day, I will now have to also inject myself with 10 cc of insulin before going to bed.  This is a scary thing for me, as I really, really hate needles.   The thought of purposely jabbing a needle into my body gives me the heeby jeebies.

After the initial exam, I had to get the prescriptions filled then return to the clinic for training in how to poke myself with said needle.  By the time all that was finished, it was about 10 after 4.  I had to be at work at  5 and when I got onto the freeway it was at a standstill.  I called my boss to say I might be a little late, however I managed to get through the traffic and into work, arriving only 2 minutes late.

I have yet to actually administer an injection.  I was going to do it last night but I chickened out.  I know it is probably irrational of me, but I found it hard to forcefully jab a needle into myself.  I know I will have to get over this, but I do not have to like it. I suppose it will become routine after a while.  It is the effort expended to get to that point which I wish to avoid.  However, I will put forth the effort to see the effect the addition of insulin has on my 3 month glucose average measure which is how they judge the progress of the disease of diabetes.  I just won't be happy about having to do it.

I was going to post some more Haydn symphonic works for your Saturday at the Symphony today, but I decided to go with some Johannes Brahms instead.  His Symphony Number 2 in D Major, Opus 73 with a performance by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Leonard Bernstein recorded in Vienna in 1982.  You may also hear Bernstein and the Vienna Philharmonic in their performance of the Brahm's Symphony Number 3 over on my tumblr.

Then to give you a little skin to inspire you on this first weekend in May, there is a bevy of beautiful men all of whom are totally Naked or Nearly So posted below the video.  There is also additional inspiration to be found in the Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr.  Thanks for sharing part of your weekend with me, have a Fabulous weekend and we will see you again on Monday for another week of Music, Men & More.  Until next time, as always, Enjoy!
