Earlier in the week I told you about the little known lobbyist in Washington by the name of Jack Burkman who wanted to introduce a bill into Congress to ban openly Gay players from participation in the NFL. He is a little more known (or should I say notorious?) after his activities of the week. Since announcing his intentions, his Gay brother has spoken out against him and several clients have severed their relationship with his lobbying firm. Thursday night he released his proposed bill to Congress. The bill would prohibit the NFL from "employing self-declared homosexual football players." It does provide an exception for teams that build and maintain separate facilities for Gay players, like that is really gonna happen. The bill is titled the 'Decency Act of 2014' and would impose fines between 3 and 8 million dollars per instance on any player that comes out while active. Section 5 also states Should one part of this legislation be deemed at any point
unconstitutional, all other parts shall be considered separate and
entirely severable for Federal Constitutional purposes.
Earlier this week Burkman predicted dozens of Congress persons and Senators would jump on the whacko wagon as sponsors of the bill. As yet, there has not been any one member of Congress to claim his or her willingness to sponsor this kooky bit of legislation. Even if some member of Congress were whacked enough to do so, I would hope that sanity would break out and the bill would die a quick and merciful death in committee. I have posted the text of the proposed 'Decency Act' below so you can see for yourselves just how whacked the bill really is.

Section 3. Provisions (A) and (B) above shall pre-empt all relevant state law.
Section 4. The US Department of Justice shall have the power to enforce this legislation by all appropriate means.

They say desperate times call for desperate measures, but really?!! Is there any member of Congress desperate enough for notoriety as a whack job that he or she would actually sponsor this openly discriminatory piece of bull shit legislation? I for one am glad that Sally Kern is in the Oklahoma legislature and not Congress, as she is and would be whacko enough to sponsor the bill. However, thank whatever deity that comes to mind that she is not in Congress. Hopefully, there is no one in Congress who would give credence much less a voice to this patently heinous bit of homophobic animus masquerading as legislation.
