Reactions, Retchings and Regurgitations

Reactions to Governor Jan Brewer's veto of the SB1062 'Religious Freedom' bill by right wing religionists and conservative commentators has reached almost epic proportions.  The cacophony of clamorings reminds me more of the squealing of stuck pigs than any rational response.  Ranging from one commentator's "Why don't you take your business where it is wanted?" to various retching and regurgitation of worn, weary and definitely un-Christ-like anti-Gay talking points by the likes of Peter Sprigg, Tony Perkins and Bryan Fischer decrying the attack on the moral foundations of this country.  Then there is Scott Lively.  Lively is known for his voluminous versification of anti-Gay bile and more recently by his missionary work to export hate around the world.  Lively is also known to brag about his efforts fomenting religious fervor leading to the anti-Gay legislation in Russia and Uganda.  He is now calling for Christians to gird themselves in righteous armor and be prepared to die in a moral revolution to combat us evil homo-facist hordes out to utterly destroy them.  From the sound of it you would think same sex love and commitment was akin to spraying armor piercing shells from an assault rifle around the inside of churches.  Although that thought does have some appeal when people like Lively and the folks at Westboro Baptist Church come to mind (naughty Uncle Gerry!).  At any rate, their ranting, retching and regurgitation of bile and bull shit will not remove them from the wrong side of history nor will it improve their chances of entering the Pearly Gates of Saint Peter.  I would love to see Lively's face when Jesus condemns him to the fiery lake of Hell on Judgement Day saying "I know you not, be gone".  Whatever happened to "Love the Lord your God with your whole heart...and your neighbor as yourself?"  Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Your Friday Musical Moment features Narciso Yepes as he performs 3 classical guitar concertos on the same night: a tribute on the passing of Segovia. This is played without amplification of the guitar, as Yepes always insisted, but only with his improved right hand technique and sitting position (together with his 10-string guitar) that greatly enhance the projection of the acoustic guitar.  Included in the play list are Guitar Concerto in D major op. 99 by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco; Concierto del Sur by Manuel Ponce and Fantasia para un gentilhombre by Joaquin Rodrigo.

The English translation of Yepes' speech at the beginning is: "Your Majesty, Ladies and Gentlemen: When someone leaves this world, they leave behind a trace, an atom of consciousness, and when that someone is a great person, the trace they leave is that much greater.  For this reason, tonight's tribute is not one that the orchestra, Manuel Galdulf, and myself pay to Segovia, but rather, it is a tribute that all of you, and us as well, and all of those who will see and will hear this programme, all pay tribute to maestro Segovia, to his memory. 'Memory' in the true sense of remembrance ['recordar' in Spanish], which means bringing him back into our hearts.  Thank you very much."

You may also hear the Guitar Concerto in A Major, Opus 30 by Mauro Guiliani over on my tumblr after scrolling down the page to cruise and peruse the fabulous furry fellows on display in this week's edition of Furry Friday.  While over at my tumblr, be sure to check out the Hottie of the Day! to be found there.  Thanks for sharing part of your Friday with me, see you again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
