The Seattle Stomp

There is an old saying in the NFL, even older than I am, that says "Offense wins games.  Defenses wins championships."  The veracity of that old saying was once again proven in last nights Super Bowl in New Jersey when the Seattle Seahawks stomped the Denver Broncos 43-8.  I was hoping that the game would be a capstone to the greatest offensive statistical season in the history of the NFL for Peyton Manning and the Broncos.  I was sorely disappointed.  Five times in Super Bowl history, the number 1 offense has faced the number 1 defense.  Of these five meetings, the defense has won all but one game,  The exception being the 'Greatest Show on Turf' of Kurt Warner and the St Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV in Y2K.  The last time the Denver Broncos disappointed me this badly, I lived in Fort Collins 50 miles north of Denver.  In that game, Super Bowl XXII in 1988, after going up 10 zip on the Washington Redskins, Denver proceeded to lose the game 42-10.  I hate seeing the Redskins win anything, so I stayed pissed at the Broncos until John Elway finally won the Broncos first Super Bowl 10 years later in SBXXXII.

Yesterday's contest started badly for the Broncos on the first play of the game when the ball was hiked over the head of Peyton Manning and through the back of the End Zone for a Safety.  It swiftly went down hill from there as the number one defense of the Seahawks thoroughly dismantled the number one offense of the Broncos.  Russell Wilson, the Seahawks sophomore QB, was not the MVP, nor did he need to be as the Seahawks scored in just about every possible way.  Seattle had a rushing TD, two passing TDs, 2 Field Goals, an interception return for a TD and they ran the second half kickoff back for a TD to go along with the game opening Safety.  I really can't believe I watched the whole thing.

This week, your Monday with Mozart features a live performance from December 2013 of his Violin Concerto Number 5 in A Major, K219 from the Romanian Atheneum Symphony Hall in Bucharest, Romania.  This performance by the Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra of Bucharest features Catalin Rotaru and the transcription of this Violin Concerto for his instrument of choice, the Double Bass.  You may also want to hear Lev Markiz conducting the Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam in their performance of Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C Major, K314 featuring Bart Schneemann as the Oboe Soloist over on my tumblr.

On display below today's video in this week's edition of muscular men in the Monday's Undies for your viewing pleasure.  You can also check out the Hottie of the Day! on my tumblr.  Thanks for the visit, see you again tomorrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
