Yesterday was long and exhausting, in fact it wore me the fuck out. After starting my day at 4:30 AM when I got up to go to work the first time, I did not arrive back home for the final time until nearly 11 PM. I still had to fix dinner for Will and I then before I could retire for the evening. When I got home from work the first time, I put together yesterday's post and was getting ready to lay down for a nap. That was when Will and I noticed a lot of thumping and hacking noises right outside our apartment. Upon investigation of said noises, we discovered a work crew preparing to do some foundation repair, digging multiple holes around the corners of my apartment and hacking away the shrubbery so that they could do so. This was the beginning of the process to insert jacks and pillars under the foundation to raise this end of the building to level it. The crew foreman then informed us they were going to jackhammer a hole in the corner of my patio and another one on the porch by my front door. The foreman also asked us if management had notified us that this was going to happen. The answer to that was a resounding no. Will fired off an angry wtf email to management asking why we were not notified of this event that was going to totally disrupt our residence for the next week or so. They have still not responded to our query.
Needless to say, nap time was not going to happen that afternoon and for sure it did not. To avoid most of the noise, I left to go to one of the local food banks to shepherd a friend through the initial registration and qualification process so that she could avail herself and her family of the services available there. I also picked up some food for us, not that I really needed the assistance this month, but free groceries are free groceries.
Luckily, when I returned home the jackhammering was finished. However they were then digging down in preparation for today's activities. There was dirt and mud everywhere, as they were hauling the detritus from the dig to a pile in the parking lot for eventual replacement in the holes they were digging. Today they are going to use an auger to drill down to the bedrock below the building in preparation for the insertion of the aforementioned jacks and pillars. The auger makes a noise akin to a loud lawnmower and will probably go on most of the day (oh joy, joy!).
Then it was time for me to head back to work for my evening shift. The trip to work was a trial in itself as there was an accident just before my exit blocking the two right lanes. You could still use my exit, however you had to shift two lanes to the left to get past the blockage before you could do so. I was almost late for work (which I truly hate) by the time I got around that mess. Of course the Stock Show is still going on so we were fairly busy , not like we were on the weekend, but busy enough. To top everything off, my relief was some 20 minutes late, delaying my departure. At this point I was totally exhausted and ready to tell the world to fuck off and leave me alone.
There were two bright spots in yesterday's long ordeal. The first being the help I provided to my friend so she could receive the assistance she needed for her family. I also shared some of what I got with her as we really got more than we needed or could use in a timely fashion. She has two children, a preteen and a teenager who are both eating machines, so every little bit helps. The other bright spot was when my customer delivered my bottom plate to me while I was at work the second time. He did a great job on repairing my denture, and I will now have to get used to having a solid bite again after all this time of putting up with the broken plate.
I am still a bit tired this morning, so I will be heading to nap land to see if I can catch some more rest before all the noise starts up again . Wish me luck on that one. Because I am tired and in the mood for some relaxation after yesterdays hubbub and ruckus, your Friday Musical Moment features the soothing and relaxing music compilation for the Cello and Piano by Pablo Arellano. You may also want to hear Arellano's Harp of Light over on my tumblr.
Finally for today we once again celebrate all that is bears, cubs and cougars in this week's edition of Furry Friday on display below the video. Be sure to check out the Hottie of the Day! also on my tumblr. Thanks for sharing a part of your Friday with me, see you again soon. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
