Oh Goodies, Aw Shits and A Wow!!! Moment

The weekend just ended provided a wealth of material upon which to expound so here goes it.  I will start with the aw shit moments.  In the Divisional rounds of the NFL Playoffs, one of my sentimental favorites, the New Orleans Saints lost to  the Seattle Seahawks 23-15 in Saturday's game in Seattle.  Like wise the Indianpolis Colts were crushed by the New England Patriots 43-22 in Foxboro.  I am not a particular fan of the Colts, but I am sick to death of Tom Brady being touted as the 'second coming of Christ in Cleats'.  The only time I like to see them win is when they are playing either the Forty-Niners, Redskins or Eagles.  I worked during those games and could only listen to them on the radio.  On Sunday I got to watch the Carolina - San Francisco match up in Charlotte which much to my dismay, the Forty-Niners won 23-10.  As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I am predisposed to vehemently dislike the SF organization, which I whole heartedly do.  I also saw the beginning of the Denver Broncos game against the  San Diego Chargers before I had to go to work where again I listened in on the radio.  Denver was up 17-0 in the third quarter when the wicked witch of the West, more commonly know as my co-worker's ex-wife, arrived with her 3 demon spawn by an unknown number of phuques du jour other than my co-worker.  The demon spawn proceeded to cough, sneeze, touch everything, run wild and  generally terrorize the store.  The 3 year old pitched a hissy fit in the middle of the store because she did not get what she wanted.  If I had done that at her age, either of my parents would have snatched my ass up for a trip to the car and a belt across the butt.  Unfortunately, that did not happen in this case.  This witch gets hundreds of dollars a month in welfare, child support and food stamps yet here she was begging cigarettes for her and her current phuque du jour and hot dogs and Slurpees for the demon spawn from my co-worker before the middle of the month has even arrived.  The din was so loud and distracting that I retreated to the cooler to stock the beer to escape the noise and keep me from disciplining the demon spawn as they should have been.  As a result, I missed the furious fourth quarter come back try of the Chargers before they eventually fell to the Broncos 24-17

As for the Oh Goodies of the weekend, I start with the Broncos game as my other sentimental favorite in this tournament is Peyton Manning and the Broncos, therefore I am glad they won in the only game that went my way the whole weekend.  This sets up next weekend's AFC and NFC Championship games.  The early game on Sunday will be at Denver where the Broncos will take on the New England Patriots.  The late game will be The hated San Francisco Forty-Niners at Seattle to take on the Seahawks.  I will be rooting for Peyton and the Broncos and against the Forty-Niners.  For me to root for a SF victory would be tantamount to me suddenly losing my mind and becoming a rabid Redskins fan and that just ain't happenin'.  Both Denver and Seattle have a significant home field advantage as they are two of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.  Denver also has an ally in the altitude at their mile high stadium.  If you have never been at altitude, it definitely takes some getting used to in order just to breath under exertion.  All this bodes well and I predict both home teams will be the victors setting up a Seattle-Denver Super Bowl XLVIII at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey on February 2nd.

Other Oh Goody moments from the weekend were provided by Alex Lubow, and his 9-month-old kitten named Winslow.  It seems Winslow has a problem with both knees in his back legs which will eventually prevent him from walking without surgery on both knees.  The surgery is $3000 for each knee which Lubow does not have.  Lubow posted a fundraising appeal on GoFundMe, which surpassed the $6000 goal in only four days.  The article I read includes adorable photos of Lubow and Winslow at which you really should take a look.

The weekend's funniest moment came from watching a short routine from Trevor Noah who is a comedian from South Africa who happens to be biracial.  His father is white and Swiss and his Mother  is a black native of South Africa.  Much of his humor is based on this, the routine is hilarious and worth the few minutes it takes to watch the video

The Wow!!! moment of the weekend came from the newly premiered CBS series Intelligence.  I missed the premiere of the pilot when it aired on Saturday night because I was at work.  I was not even aware of it until I saw a promo for the first regular season episode during the brief part of the Bronco game I got to see.  I watched the pilot after work last night on its CBS web page.  The series starring Josh Holloway and Marg Helgenberger is extremely well written and excellently portrayed by the cast.  The plot revolves around the US Cyber Command which has implanted a chip in the brain of the top Intelligence agent played by Holloway which wires his brain to the internet, wifi and blue tooth devices in real time.  I am a fan of the spy genre in both print and video, so this was right up my alley.  The pilot caught my attention from the get go, and the whole episode's intensity kept me glued to my monitor for the duration.  It also ended on a cliff hanger which sets up the first season.  You can watch the pilot on line and catch the first regular season episode tonight on CBS (check your local listings) or tomorrow on line.  It is a worthy entertainment investment of your time and I will be watching right along with you.

You Monday With Mozart features the master's Violin Concerti 2, 3 and 5 in a 1998 recording on CD by Vadim Repin with Yehudi Menuhin conducting the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in accompaniment.  Then to get your week started out on the right foot with an eyeful of eye candy there is a comely collection of marvelous men from smooth to furry all adorned in their finest Monday's Undies lounging about the page below the play list.  You can also catch the Grand March from Aida by Giuseppe Verdi with a performance by Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra over on my tumblr as well as the Hottie of the Day!.  Thanks for sharing part of your Monday with me, see you on the morrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
