Incredible

While cruising through my news feeds yesterday, I ran across this act of stupidity by a Republican Nut Job in the Sunshine State.  Joshua Black, who is a candidate for the Florida House of Representatives from Saint Petersburg / Pinellas County,  went on Twitter to post perhaps the most Incredible thing I have heard in a long time, to wit:

How stupid do you have to be to threaten the President of the United States with execution for treason in a public forum?  This of course brought a visit (I hope, expected?) from the Secret Service.  He Tweeted about that too:

Did he really expect to be threatened by the Secret Service?  I do hope he realizes that he no longer has a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected to anything, even in Florida.  His Twitter followers took to his Facebook page with some acerbic commentary which he so richly deserves for his Incredible Stupidity.  Some of the highlights of these comments are “Clueless about history too. Not a surprise. Idiot,” “READ A BOOK! OMG,” “You are an idiot and just shot any political aspirations you may have had in the proverbial dick. Good luck explaining to the world why it is a good idea to call for the lynching of our first black president. Douche,” and “You deserve an arrest and a trial and a felony conviction for this kind of remark.”.  Only time will tell whether the citizens of Florida will follow this act of stupidity with one of their own and actually vote this guy into office.  Makes you wonder whether Joshua Black (who is also Black by the way) is from Planet Stupid sent here to confound and confuse the rest of us or does he need to be locked in a straight jacket in the nearest mental facility's rubber room.  I am soooooo glad I do not live in Florida, sheesh!

Sadly yesterday also brought us the news of the passing of legendary Italian Composer Claudio Abbado at the age of 80 after a long battle with Cancer.  A tribute appeared this morning in the Los Angeles Times as well as many other public tributes the world over.  Your Midweek Musical Moment features Signori Abbado conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in their performance of Anton Bruckner's Symphony Number 4 in E Flat Major, Romantic, recorded live at the Musicverein in Vienna.  I have also posted a live recording of Signori Abbado conducting the Berlin Philharmonic in their performance of Beethoven's Fifth over on my tumblr.
