Did everyone get what they wanted for Christmas? For me the answer was yes and no. Yes, because I saw everyone that I wanted to see (the whole family, minus one or two) over at Mother's house and left before it got too uncomfortable for all involved. And I got to play Santa Claus for Will when I got home from there! No, because I did not get the Musical Gifts from Joshua Bell and Friends CD I wanted. Joshua bell collaborates with guest artists including Gloria Estefan, Alison Krauss, Kristin Chenoweth, trumpeter
Chris Botti, jazz greats Chick Corea and Branford Marsalis, opera stars
Plácido Domingo and Renée Fleming, Michael Feinstein and a cappella
group Straight No Chaser. He says "I wanted to capture the feeling and celebration of the holidays and that spirit of December, I love the idea of celebrating music in ways different from how it was
originally written, bringing in new arrangements and creating new
repertoire."
So I really wanted that CD, however it was my own fault I did not get it because I did not tell anyone that is what I wanted. However, I did get a $25 check and a a $25 Visa Gift Card and I will be getting it from Amazon.com just as soon as I finish getting this post put together. Once I do that, then I can say 'yes', I totally got what I wanted for Christmas. Among the gifts I received other than the money, Will got me these really cool new adjustable measuring scoops called NuScup from Dalla Piazza in Switzerland. He discovered them on one of his favorite video haunts, the Cooking with Jack You Tube Show in the Toys in the Kitchen, Part 2 episode. He even got them in my favorite color, blue. So he did good, I really love em and will find a daily use for them I am sure as I go about preparing the meals around here.
I got almost as much fun out of watching Will opening up his gifts as he did. Will is the only one that drinks coffee or hot tea around here. He has been heating water in a pan on the stove with which to make his cups up. So for Christmas I got him a single serve drip coffeemaker along with an assortment of coffees, teas and threw some of his favorite candies as stuffers. He has been experimenting with it all night learning to balance the right amounts of coffee or tea and water to get the desired results. I think it will see a lot of use in the coming months.
I had a great Christmas and I hope yours went as well as mine. I could use more days like that. How come everyday can't be like Christmas Day? Oh, well, there is always next year.....
I heard today's selection for your day after Christmas Musical Moment on Venice Classic Radio this morning and almost immediately found the same recording to which I was listening in a video on You Tube. So voila, your Musical Musical Moment was born with Beethoven's Sonata for Violin and Piano Number 5, Opus 24 with a performance by Anne-Sophir Mutter on Violin and Lambert Orkis on Piano. You can listen to this same duo performing Sonata Number 7, Opus 30, Number 2 posted over on my tumblr.
Then to wrap things up so I can get on with my payday rituals, I put together a collection of sizzling sexiness dressed in denim for this week's edition of Men In Jeans. They are just waiting for you to cruise on by on your way down the page. Thanks for sharing a part of your day with me, see you soon. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
