Veterans Day

95 years ago at 11:11 AM on 11/11/1918, the guns fell silent over the vast battlefields of 'The Great War' which we now call World War I.  This day was commemorated the world over each year afterward as Armistice Day to remember those who had served and those who had fallen in the biggest war in world history.  After the second 'Great War', World War II, the name was changed to Veteran's Day to commemorate all those who had served and all who had fallen in the any and all of the world's conflicts.  No matter your stance on the political side of war, it is still appropriate to take a moment to remember those who have served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.  Without their service and sacrifice, we would not be enjoying the freedoms we so often take for granted today.  Today is not the day to glorify military might, rather it is the day remember wars past and hope for the end of all wars future.  I was privileged to serve and one of the lucky ones to survive to tell the tale.  I am grateful to those who served before me, those with whom I served and those who serve today.  Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, take a moment sometime today to thank the veterans in your life for their service to your country.
