It is highly unusual for me to have two days off in a row, especially on a weekend. However I have spent the last two days reading and relaxing. Sleeping is another matter altogether, with my ability to sleep more than a couple hours at a time seriously in disrepair. The exception being Friday when out of sheer exhaustion I slept for about 5 hours before waking. The rest of the weekend has been in those two hour stints. It has been forever and a day since I last slept for eight hours straight. I don't know if that is a symptom of being old or something else. I suppose I will ask my doctor when I go for my regular visit next month.
I have already done my good deed for the day by jump starting Will's girlfriend's car. I am sure that is not the last kind thing I will be called upon to do today, but it is a nice start for the day. I don't plan on doing too much today besides read and relax so that I will feel well rested when I once again join the work a day world at 4 PM.
With only two days to go before I can launch The Plan upon receipt of my first SSRB deposit, the anticipation is growing day by day. It should therefore be a pretty exciting week for me and I will try to express that excitement in a way in which you all can relate. It will mark the first time in several years where I will actually be bringing home enough money to cover everything, purchase a new vehicle and still have some left over to save. Indeed an exciting prospect and one to which I am really looking forward.
For your Monday Musical Moment, I have a especially joyful video for you. Back in 1989, the City of Berlin was a divided city deep in the heart of the communist German Democratic Republic (East Germany). The city was divided by the Berlin Wall erected in 1961 to keep the capitalist influence of the western allies of the US, France and Britain out of East Berlin and the oppressed citizens of that city from escaping. There were many deaths during the 28 year history of the wall and crossing over from west to east or vice versa was always fraught with peril at Checkpoint Charlie. However on November 9, the wall came tumbling down setting off an exuberant celebration that reverberated around the world. Conducted by Leonard Bernstein, THE BERLIN CELEBRATION CONCERT is an
historic performance marking the fall of the Berlin Wall. Performed on
Christmas Day 1989 in the former East Berlin, the concert unites an
international cast of celebrated musicians and vocalists for a moving
performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Joining Bernstein on stage were members of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerisches Rundfunks, Staatskapelle Dresden, the Orchestra of the Leningrad Kirov Theatre, the London
Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Orchestre de Paris. The video captures the entire performance along with some introductory commentary and the extended standing ovation given at the end of the performance both inside the venue and outside as the concert was broadcast to the multitudes gathered there for the celebration.
Then to wrap things up, or unwrap as you may want, are the adorably muscular men in this collection of hunky lads in their Monday's Undies for your visual appreciation. Thanks for sharing part of your Monday with me, see you again tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
