Welcome to this Labor Day Weekend edition of the Best of the Web This Week. I collected 946 photographs this week from which to sift, sort and select the portraiture in this week's review. I have tried to be more selective in my initial saves during the week, making the selection process for today somewhat more difficult to discern which among the many excellent choices were truly the best. However, it is such a pleasant task, one must not complain about having to choose the most beautiful among the bountiful beauty available. In the end I selected 60 portraits for your perusal, each with its own special appeal and or intrinsic quality that made them so appealing in the first place. To accompany your inspection and admiration of these works of art, your Saturday Musical Moment features the music of Franz Joseph Haydn with two of his Cello Concerti, one in C Major and one in D Major. The performance today is by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Raymond Leppard and features Maurice Gendron as the Cello Soloist from a 2011 release of a 1965 recording.
