Exuberance Unabated!!

The overwhelming exuberance we all felt at the announcement of the historic victories over DOMA and Prop 8 at the Supreme Court continued unabated over the weekend.  This exuberance added a joyful impetus to the celebrations over the last weekend of Pride 2013.  In New York City, Grand Marshall of the Pride Parade Edie Windsor, the heroine at the center of the DOMA case, was welcomed with open arms of love, acceptance and admiration.  The 84 year old Windsor has firmly established her status as a Cultural Icon of the LGBTQ Community nationwide as a result of her courageous fight and ultimate victory in the battle for Equality for us all.  Every legally married same sex couple from here to eternity owe a debt of gratitude to Edie Windsor for gaining the recognition of their legal marital status by the Federal Government as Equal to that of any other legally married couple in this country.

'On the night of the great dual marriage equality decisions, author Armistead Maupin wrote on his Facebook page, “Tonight we will celebrate for all who never lived to see this day.”.'  Gay Dad, activist, businessman and blogger Rob Watson took this message to heart and penned a heartfelt, moving Open Letter to all his friends and lovers who did not live to see this day.  There are many of us in my generation who never thought we would live to see this day and sadly, many of us did not.  I am one of the lucky ones as are you who are reading these words.  No, we have not gained the final victory as yet, however we are miles closer to that grand and glorious goal of Equality.  These momentous victories have given us renewed strength to continue the climb to the mountain top where the once vague Dream of Equality sits awaiting patiently for our arrival.

Meanwhile in Chicago, the auditions for the TV show, America's Got Talent, brings us our Feel Good Moment of the Week with this smashing performance by the Military Spouses Choir.  Take a listen to their story and their song, you will be glad you did.

Then for your classical Monday Musical Moment, we feature the music of Johann Christian Schieferdecker with his Musicalische Concerte [Hamburg, 1713].  Included in the play list are Concert No. 13 in C minor, Concert No. 8 in F major, Concert No. 5 in D minor, Concert No. 10 in G major, Concert No. 1 in A minor and Concert No. 6 in D major.  Today's performance is by the Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg.  To complete today's post is a rather scrumptious selection of sultry and sexy men in their finest Monday's Undies gracing the page under the play list.  Thanks for sharing part of your Monday with me, see you again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
