The Genius of Mozart, Part 1

I managed to survive truck night with the newbie, although the night was not without a little drama.  Captain Rodricks of the FWPD came by for one of his usual visits around 3 AM or so.  Of course the newbie and I were caught up in the myriad tasks of stowing away all the goods and supplies we had received on the truck along about midnight.  Never the less, we still took a few moments to visit with the good Captain.  While he was there, a older, biker fellow drove up on a customized Iron Horse Chopper and parked at pump 5.  He came in and bought a couple of taquitos, spoke a few words to the Captain, then went outside, sat on the sidewalk and ate his taquitos.  The Captain was a little concerned that he might be drunk as his speech was slightly slurred, so he went out to speak with the man.  It turns out the man had been assaulted resulting in a pretty bad concussion whose effects began to manifest themselves.  The man grew less and less coherent, and was visibly suffering from the injuries received in the assault.  The Captain called the Med Star people for an ambulance which arrived shortly.  While the Paramedics were examining him, he began to have seizures from the effects of the concussion.  The man was a bit of a heavyweight and it took 3 Cops along with the 2 Paramedics to get him on to the stretcher without further injuring him.  Once the ambulance left to take him to the hospital, followed by the two Cops that had arrived to assist the Captain, I still had this custom Chopper parked on a pump with morning rush approaching rapidly.  The Captain had managed to contact some of the man's friends who were coming from Decatur (about an hour north of Fort Worth) to get the bike.  The hour drive stretched into a little more than that and the Captain eventually called a tow truck to impound the bike.  The friends arrived before the tow truck and so were able to take possession of the bike before we got too terribly busy with morning rush.  I am just glad the good Captain was on site, as I really did not have time to get all I had to accomplish done and deal with drama too.  However all is well that ends well and I am home but fairly worn out from all the activity.

I do have a little special something up my sleeve for you guys.  While I was wandering about You Tube yesterday I came across a really great 3 part BBC documentary that I thought would interest all of you out there.  The Genius of Mozart is deftly crafted with both informative narrative and well acted vignettes, hosted by British Conductor Charles Hazelwood.  "Since winning the European Broadcasting Union conducting competition in his 20's, Charles Hazlewood has enjoyed a global and pioneering career conducting some of the world's great orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, the Malmö Symphony in Sweden and the Philharmonia in London. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2003, and his BBC Proms debut in 2006."  Hazelwood is an "advocate for broadening access to orchestral music.  Renowned for his widespread presence across the BBC, he conducts orchestras around the world.  Hazlewood lives on a farm in Somerset from where he hosts his own music festival "Orchestra in a Field".   This documentary is his personal exploration into the life and music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  In Part 1, Miracle of Nature, Hazelwood takes us from Wolfie's early years to young adulthood, including vignettes of different aspects of his life along with his excellent narrative.  Part 1 includes his prodigy, his celebrity, the estrangement from his father, his meeting and marriage to Constanze von Weber and the death of his mother along with a great deal of his masterful music.  Tomorrow I will have Part 2 for you and Friday I will have Part 3.  Forthwith here is Part 1, Miracle of Nature:

Once you have finished immersing yourselves in the Genius of Mozart, I have a little bit of deliciousness to feast your eyes upon with this collection of Random Hotness lounging about the page.  Thanks for the visit. see you again tomorrow for Part 2 of The Genius of Mozart.  Until next time as always. Enjoy!
