It is one of those gloriously brilliant midwinter days we get here in Texas that reminds of that Spring is definitely on the horizon. With temperatures expected to soar into the high seventies and maybe into the eighties, it is almost enough to engender a bout of Spring Fever. This is one of the major reasons people live in the South, Winter comes but does not set up permanent residency like in most of our Northern states. However, most times Winter will put in a return appearance just when we begin to get used to the warmer temperatures. So we enjoy it while we can before old man Winter comes back around to bite us in the ass, lol. I really don't have anything that is urgently inspiring me to expound upon, therefore I suppose I will just move on to the music and the men. The play list for today is performed by "An early music ensemble which is a musical ensemble that specializes in performing early music of the European classical tradition from the Baroque era and earlier — broadly, music produced before about 1750. Most, but not all, of these groups are advocates of "historically informed performance", and attempt to re-create the music as it might have sounded at the time it was written, using period instruments and modifying playing techniques according to the most recent scholarly research into music of the time." The play list contains the Armonico Tributo Sonata Numbers 2 in G Minor; 3 in A Major and the Passcaglia from 5 in G Major by Georg Muffat performed by Ensemble 415 Baroque Chamber Orchestra under the direction of founder Chiara Banchini. "Georg Muffat (1653--1704) was a French-born German Baroque composer who was instrumental in bringing the French and Italian styles to the German-speaking countries and combining them to create a new style. This would eventually pave the way for the later German cosmopolitan styles of Telemann, Handel, and Bach." After the play list are some really fine examples of Random Hotness sure to inspire your own bout of Spring Fever. Thanks for the visit, see you again tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
