A Massenet Matinee

Happy Friday to everyone. I thought I would do something  a little different today.  While I am not a great fan of Opera or Ballet per se, their is an awful lot of good music out there from both genres.  Today I am going to bring you a little bit of both and some other things as well as we take a brief glimpse at the music of French Composer Jules Emile Frederic Massenet.  The passages selected will show the breadth of his work from Opera to Ballet and more.  To begin, Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon sing the lovers duet from the opera Manon in French at a Paris Recital in 2007, then we have a transition passage in his Elegie performed by a pianist only identified as David, which is followed by a Ballet Suite from Herodiate.  The final video is the Meditation from the opera Thais as only Yo Yo Ma and his cello can perform it, accompanied by Kathryn Stott on Piano.  A delightful Massenet Matinee to get you set for the weekend that is just beginning for you guys.  To help get you in the weekend spirit, while you are mellowing to the music, you can give your libido a work out as you scroll down the page to see all the Men At Play I have for your visual pleasure today.  That should get your weekend off to a fabulous start.  Be sure to stop in tomorrow to catch the Best of the Web This Week, where I display the most fetching photographs of the hundreds I have collected this week.  Thanks for the visit, see you again soon! Until next time as always, Enjoy!
