More Music and Men

I have been in a fairly musical mood all week as you can probably tell.  We have explored various instruments this week already in the Guitar, Harpsichord and Cello.  Today we are moving from strings to the largest of the woodwinds, the Bassoon.  Like its cousin the Oboe, the Bassoon is a double reed instrument whose lower voice has a mellow, mellifluous quality to it which is both exciting and soothing.  To illustrate the range and versatility of the Bassoon we turn to my all time favorite composer, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi.  Vivaldi was a prolific composer whose most famous work is his Quatro Stazioni which in English is the Four Seasons.  He wrote extensively for most instruments in the orchestra, including the Bassoon.  I have chosen four of his Concertos for the purpose of this illustration, RV481, RV484, RV497 and RV501.  The run time is about an hour but should provide an excellent backdrop for viewing all the handsome hunks I have for you in the eye candy section below the videos.  Thanks for stopping by and exploring the world of music and men with me.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
