Situational Updates

"Dark Spider"

When I came home from work last there was an email from the lady at JPS Health Network giving me a phone number to call to set appointments for Will and I which was tremendous news. The really good news is that I had emailed this lady from a reference from a blog buddy and in the email I explained our situation as regarding our health issues and our "family" relationship as well as our income situation. In the Federal guidelines on such things my income level qualifies for assistance for a one or two person "family" and the lady at JPS did not voice any objections to our "family unit". So it looks like we are going to be able to get some low cost health care to help us resolve our health issues. This is really good news as far as Will is concerned as his health needs are the more expensive because of the surgery required. Therefore I will be calling to set appointments for the both of us. This makes Uncle a really happy camper today in regard to our health issues.

Still of concern to us is the fact that we have still NOT received our refund from Freedom Power. I called on Tuesday and was told that our refund which was supposed to have been processed and mailed by last Thursday had run into a "delay" and would be mailed on Wednesday.. I responded with "this is totally unacceptable, please have a supervisor call me today". Of course I have yet to receive a "phone call within 24 hours" as it has been 48 already. If you live in Texas avoid these assholes like the plague! They use bait and switch tactics and have abysmal customer service, you can't get a supervisor on the line, they are supposed to call with in 24 hours unless I bug the hell outta them, that doesn't happened either. So your best bet is to stay the hell away from Freedom Power / 1800 4aphone.

A lot of my stress has been relieved over Will's situation, but the whole Freedom Power fiasco still pisses me off. But for the most part I am pretty happy with our progress on health care and a couple of other things that I have not written about here. four or five of us got together on Skype where we had a riotous time covering a wide range of topics. WE added this one fellow who immediately used "that's so gay" and the whole group jumped his shit all at once. He was apologetic and ended up adding a lot to the conversation.. As most of these guys are under the age of 18, it warms my heart to know that I have had a small part in educating today's youth and they have taken to it like ducks to water. Proves my theory of it is harder to hate someone you know. Gives me hope for the future of America. And that is a very good thing.

Good news on the Federal level also in that Iraq Veteran/Congressional Representative Patrick Murphy has introduced legislation in Congress to repeal DADT. It is about fucking time! He is joining HRC and Service Members United in a"Voices of Honor" Tour to promote this bill and "quarterback" this bill through Congress. His statement to the press in part is below:

"Our president, President Barack Obama, has stated that If Congress can get a bill to his desk repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell, he will sign it into law. It is now our job, and my job specifically, to quarterback this through the Congress of the United States to do just that. I can not tell you today how long it's gonna take. All I can tell ya is that paratroopers don't quit, and paratroopers get the job done. To remove honorable, talented and committed Americans from serving in our military is contrary to the values that our military holds dear."

From Towleroad:

"Voices of Honor" will make stops in Philadelphia; Trenton; Virginia Beach; Phoenix; Kansas City, MO; Orlando and Tampa and will feature former Marine Staff Sgt. Eric Alva, the first American soldier injured in Iraq, among others. CNN points out that some of those involved were chosen because they're straight, as outreach to other straight soldiers.

So it seems as there is a lot of good news on a lot of fronts this week as opposed to last week. Therefore Uncle is a much happier camper this week also. I have put together a little collection together with a lot of hot hunks for your Men In Jeans moment. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
