My Letter to Michelle

"Seascape, Corona del Mar, California"

In Tuesday's post I effectively called out our President on the DADT issue to which he has publicly responded by passing the buck back to Congress and refusing to issue an executive order to halt the discharges while Congress passes effective legislation. I fear he has no cajones to face the haters who wish to deny us full participation in our society. This is indeed a sad thing to say about "the leader of the free world". Where is the leadership?

On Wednesday morning I got an email from Michelle Obama asking me to volunteer for service to America on health care reform. The following was my reply:

My dear Lady,

I would love to volunteer for service to America, however until there is some actual progress made in these United States to recognize GLBT Americans as full participants in our society I must respectfully decline your invitation. Effective legislation to guarantee our civil rights and the rights of our brave and proud service members to serve openly without retribution must come first before I can be of further service to our country. As a Gay Viet Nam Veteran discharged for being Gay, it is my duty to stand up for our current service members so they do not have to experience the life altering consequences of an unfair discharge as I have. I hope that you can bring some influence to bear on our President to actually lead the way in these efforts.

Most sincerely,

Uncle Gerry Miller

I do not believe that the First Lady will actually see my email, however the more we stand up for our rights, the more visible we are, the more problems for those who would deny us full participation as equals to all others in our society. Please raise your voices, deny the haters the opportunity to shove us back in the closet. Above all, refuse to monetarily support those who would take our money and ignore our rights. Until those in power learn that we indeed are not a bunch of limp wristed pantie waists willing to bend over so they can shove hate up our collective asses, we will never be equal.

Today's eye candy is a collection of Hot Shotz from my archives. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
