Moving, Marriage, Myths and Men

"Warm Waves"

It has been one incredibly busy week for Will and I with major changes all around. Sometimes I am amazed at the amount of activity we manage to squeeze into the time we have available. I must apologize for the sparsity of posting this week as time has gotten away from me a little bit. The last post was supposed to be the Tuesday post but I put the wrong date on it so it did not publish until Wednesday, which was the day we actually moved. That was one helluva day and my body is feeling the effects of lift and tote and too many stairs. At least we moved into the first floor so there are no stairs at new place, there were enough at the old place to wear my legs out. We did get everything over here finally around 8 pm. Nothing was organized or put together but it was here. I put all the disassembled things in the living room together yesterday after work, today I will tackle my bedroom. Will already has his set up, but he has had more time to get his stuff done than have I due to my work schedule. We were sitting in the living room talking about how it does not yet feel like home, but it is getting there. Of course, when we finally get everything put up and situated, the homeyness will ensue. We had the cable guy out on Wednesday, but he was a real fuck wad, the guy would not run cable to the Will's bedroom or leave the box for it, hell I could have done everything he did. Really pissed me off, so I called Jason who installed my Internet at the old place and he is coming out today to fix things up for us. This was the first time I had a bad service experience with the cable company, they are usually so nice and efficient, I was disappointed in the guy they sent, basically because he was a lazy fuck who did not want to do what I had ordered done. Surprisingly I did not get a quality assurance call afterward, I bet the guy had something to do with that because he knew he would not get a good review from us. The cable company will here from me about this for sure. Will is right in saying that the new place as compared to the old, it is like moving from Flatbush to Park Avenue, but with out the high price. Not a bad deal and I am looking forward to the summer eye candy at the pool just outside my back door. I think I could get to like living here, I know Will is pretty psyched about it all. We do have the network set up now with Will's router connected to the cable modem. He set it up as a secure network so no one can piggy back on our signal. I am still hardwired here in living room, and Will gets a strong signal from the router in his room, so all is good on that point. Neither of us could survive long with out Internet access with out going crazy or suffering though Internet withdrawal. So now that all the transitions have taken place, maybe Will and I can get back to just the normal flurry of activity that swirls around us. One can only hope, huh?

I got an email the other day from Steve T referencing this post which featured his video "I Now Pronounce You Trent and Greg" in December of 2007. Steve has re-edited the video for Project Pushback on Vimeo which is a vido contest promoting Gay Marriage. If you like his video, follow the link below the video to Vimeo and vote for it. Voting closes on June 15. Grand price is $2500, which for a budding videographer would do a world of good. I have posted both the original and the re-edited videos below.

While we are on the subject of Gay Marriage, congratulations to New Hampshire whose Governor signed the bill legalizing Gay Marriage in the state. And then there were six, only 44 more to go! If I were a betting man, my money would be on Florida, Arkansas and Texas as the last three states to grant full equality under the law, but I am not a betting man. That does not mean my instincts in this regard are wrong.

Another video came to me in my email from Wayne Besen and TWO in which Thomas Maier talks about his book Masters of Sex which debunks the 1979 Masters and Johnson treatise "Homosexuality in Perspective". Through his investigations Mr Maier found that the data used to "prove" homosexuals could change their orientation was totally fabricated. The Masters and Johnson book has been the "Bible" for the Ex-Gay industry which has now been proven to be a false concept. From the video description:

"One can not overstate the importance of Maier's findings. They undo the very underpinnings of the so-called "ex-gay" therapy movement, further showing that there is no scientific evidence or data to support the outdated idea that gay people can become heterosexual through therapy.

Indeed, many people who have undergone such "treatment" claim the experience was harmful and that they were psychologically damaged. The American Psychiatric Association says that attempts to change sexual orientation can lead to "anxiety, depression and self-destructive behavior."

How many people have been damaged over the last 30 years due to this blatantly fabricated piece of shit? How long do we have to be discriminated against because of lies and obfuscation of the truth? Thankfully, America is beginning to wake up to the fact that they have been lied to and are coming around to the correct side of the equality debate, and it is about damn time. Have a look at the video and see for yourselves what Thomas Maier has to say:

I guess that about covers all my bases for today, I should be back on my regular posting schedule this next week but we shall see what comes up as the week progresses. On a technical note, it seems that the new Blogger script to upload photos to my template only works with IE and not the new FF3. I discovered this when after a 5 days of trying to upload the June Man of the Month with FF3. Luckily I have the IE Tab extension so I can switch a tab or pop up (as in Blogger photo upload) to IE with out exiting FF3. They need to fix this, as I do not want to do anything in IE I don't absolutely have to. To close out this week, I have put together this little collection of hot hunks from my current gatherings, many of which are ideally suited as desktop wallpapers, the others are just plain hot. I am sure you will find something to please the eye among them. Have a fabulous weekend and we will catch you here on Monday. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
