"Serenity"
From a beautiful start to the day right up until shift change when events swirled madly about driving us all nutso for a while. Business was good and brisk which is a good thing, it was the other activities which proved to be quite the challenge. In addition to the normal business routine I had the Sieman's guy out working on the DVR surveillance system and another guy out fixing the pay phones outside and then I got the phone call I had been waiting for from the folks at the local government agency who happen to control the EBT licensing. Mind you all this is happening while I am trying to do my tobacco order ( more on this in a minute). I had called the EBT folks to find out a status on our license. You have to call and leave a message for them to call you, there is no direct connect to a real person. Anyway this government drone called me today and I swear he had been taking lessons from Sarah Palin on the art of the non-answer answer. This guy raised it to a whole new level of verbosity that is bewildering at best and pure bull shit at worst. After a half hour of asking simple questions like what is the status of my application and after you receive the inspection report ( I was inspected at the first of last week) does it take to receive an approval, I knew no more than I did when I submitted it in the first place 3 weeks ago. But I had an earful of words that amounted to a pile of rabbit pellets for all the information they did not contain.
After I got off the phone with Mr Data I got back to the seeming 14 other things that were calling for my attention. I was waiting on customers while dealing with the repairmen, trying to order tobacco while trying to figure out why the computer and the MOT were not communicating correctly. Our Field Training Rep came by because we could not figure out what the computer was doing with the cash reports which from experience he pinpointed the problem quickly. Get tech support on the phone he told them exactly what the problem was, the rep put him on hold for 10 minutes to investigate the problem, then came back and told him exactly what he had told them in the first place. Then he got his expected response that tech support would fix it then call us so we could do the cash reports after wasting the time on hold waiting for them to do what he asked them to do in the beginning of the conversation. We both needed a cigarette by this time so we went out and commiserated with each other while talking with the phone repairman.
I got back to the tobacco order when I noticed the data I had one of my day girls scan into the computer was there in some places but not in others. So I had to recount about half the inventory again while trying to get the order in for submission this morning. All this hubbub was swirling around while A was gone to a meeting with the sub-group of franchisees over at the training store with our Business Consultant. I was really glad to see him get back so I could concentrate on redoing the counting I had my associate do earlier because the computer decided to eat some of the data. I finally got it done and headed out about 6 opting for dinner at The Mexican Inn in lieu of cooking before arriving home around 7.
Unknown walking in the door would be the trouble call from Str8roomie for technical assistance with his laptop which turned into a whole 'nother misadventure all by itself. If this were a book it would be called Tech Support for the Clueless. Not that Str8roomie is not intelligent, he has just enough knowledge about computers to be dangerous. And by this time I was already frazzled so I guess I was not really in a teaching by hand holding frame of mind. Thank goodness Will was on Skype with me at the time so I could pass 'roomie off to Will whom I go to when I can't figure something out. Will has a lot more tech support patience than I did after the day I had and was able to give 'roomie the answers he needed. Thanks for saving my bacon Will. Else I might have had to shoot 'roomie. Not really but you know what I mean (lol). Speaking of Will he sent me more Foamy links which are hilarious check out this one and this one too!
That about covers all the misadventures of the my hump day. Maybe that is why I feel road hard and put up wet without a kiss this morning. None the less your intrepid Uncle managed to struggle though and put together some really fine examples of Random Hotness to heat up your Thursday. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
