"The Mediterranean - Once Upon an Evening"
Tuesday tested my customer service skills to the max with every variety of hard to please or handle personages of all stripes. Yet overall sales were excellent although by the time I got home around 5 I was mentally a bowl of mush. I nuked some dinner then was in bed by 6:15 . I was going to write this post last night but I was not feeling creative at all. So I set my alarm to get up early and write with a refreshed mind instead. Needless to say I have not checked any news sources or blogs for the latest happenings therefore I have no earth shattering happenings to report or comment on. My getting up early had a dual purpose as I missed talking to Will yesterday and he is usually home from work by now. However he must be working overtime as he as yet to make an appearance on line this morning. Ah well I am sure we will catch up to each other before the day is out. It is still cold here (32) but it is supposed to warm again to near 50 degrees and get to the 70's again for the weekend. This is why we live in the south, it does not stay cold for very long at a time.
Will just made his appearance on line and we are on Skype catching up as I write now. Yes he was working overtime at Wally World, it is Christmas after all and this year even the well off are shopping discount because of the economy. This is his first Christmas working retail so it is a real eye opener with the craziness that ensues when folks are in a shopping frenzy. I of course have experienced the madness that is retail at this time of year which does not make the crazies any easier to handle, just easier to recognize. Omaha is no different than Texas in this regard except maybe in the sheer numbers of people involved. Ah the "joys" of Christmas. We will not however digress into a further discussion of the mania some people suffer while attempting to get something that will please everyone on their lists. Suffice it to say the season does present its challenges even in hard economic times. So now it is 3:30 in the morning and I must put the final touches on this post so I may then make my self presentable for work this morning. This should be another interesting day in the wonderful world of retail. The great thing about retail is the crazies don't come every day and usually not two days in a row. I look forward to the challenges of the day with a good crew to help me out. I now have two great associates on the day shift that work hard to please the customers and keep the place clean. Their effervescence and enthusiasm make it a happy place to be all day no matter the circumstances. So I will catch up with you guys here tomorrow, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel.
