"New Dawn"
I was a slug all day Sunday for the first time in a long time. I did not have to work or do any orders, the day was completely my own. It was a clear cold day perfect for sticking close to the house and mucking about. Which is exactly what I did. I Surfed the net, caught up my email and G-reader, chatted with Will and 'roomie and napped - a lot! All in all a much needed day of rest enjoyed immensely by yours truly. There is some interesting news on the 'roomie front in that he and his gurl are getting married in June. Nothing earth shattering there except that in this totally hetero wedding your intrepid Uncle has the privelege of being "Father of the Bride" by walking gurl down the aisle. Then I get to release the Bride and stand up by the Groom as the Best Man. I wonder if this qualifies as one of those "always a bridesmaid never a bride" moments? Now if only the roles could be legally reversed so that I could actually be a "bride" or "groom" in the eyes of the state or federal government. I am very happy for the 'roomie and his gurl, and the fact that I was asked to participate in the ceremony in such a significant way is an honor for me. Therefore I will not go on a political rant about the our lack of marriage rights. After all how many str8 weddings have you been to with a Gay "Father of the Bride" and a Gay "Best Man" in the same ceremony? (Let's not count how many Gay men are "The Groom" in straight weddings or Lesbians "The Bride", but again I digress.) This should make June an interesting time for me. As yet we do not know for sure if the wedding will be here in Texas or in South Carolina. Either location works for me, the store should be running well enough by then if I should need to travel for the wedding.
The shopping season is winding down to its last furious days before Christmas on Thursday. I have yet to here anything further from my family so I am assuming there is not an invitation to participate with la familia in any activities. Ah well, that could still change. Moving on, this week should be brisk in all the way through this week. We are the only store open most of Christmas day so it will be crazy busy if past years of my experience are any indication. I may not have time to do a special post as in the last couple of years but I will endeavor to make this week as special as possible starting today with Santa's Stocking Stuffers for Good Little Boys.
