Phone Calls In The Middle of the Night

Midnight

How was your holiday? Mine was extremely busy but for the first time in many years I had a great Thanksgiving. I worked yesterday morning and we were busy all day not crushed a steady string of customers all day. This is a good thing, really the best thing about franchising an existing location. We have a customer base already, but with better execution of the concept and the infusion of personality plus excellent customer service the potential for increased profitability is unlimited. I was tired as hell when I got off work, but with a little relax time I caught my second wind for the rest of the activities of the day.

I got home before the start of the Cowboy game, sat down, kicked up my feet and imbibed a little bit and began to relax. The first half of the Cowboy game really energized me ( the 'Boys were kicking some major ass on the Seahawks. Mike Holmgren looked like he could spit nails most of the game and the scowl only got deeper as the game wore on to the eventual 34-9 final score. The original plan for the day was for Gal Pal to bring me some dinner after the game. But the after family gathering (where the real holiday fun begins) was in full swing at her house so she came to pick me up at halftime. The party really was on during the second half of the game as the 'Boys cruised to victory and party hearty people there did party hearty. I ate too much as I am want to do on Thanksgiving and joined the rest of the people in the hearty party. By the time Charlie Brown came on at 7 we were definitely under the influence and we laughed our asses off at Charlie, Lucy, Linus ET AL. The first half hour is really funny even after all these years and the many times I have seen it. I guess that is why it is a classic. I was ready then for my L tryptothan induced nap but thought I should go home before I passed out. I made my final round and Gal Pal took me home. I got upstairs. plopped in my chair and propped my feet up. I started working on this post, photo selection is such an "arduous task" (lol), but ran out of steam around 9:30. I had your Friday Night Fantasies selected but could not keep my eyes open any longer. So I got up and went to bed. I was sleeping very soundly when the phone ran around 1:30. Unknown to me I had missed a call earlier from G but I will get to that in a minute. It was Will calling for our Thanksgiving visit, we had not talked since before I left for work. I saw at that time (after groggily awakening to answer the phone) I had a VM from G. I was talking to Will on Skype so I listened to the VM on my cell. Apparently certain employees are testing the waters to see how much they can get away with. Unfortunately for them, they are no longer unleashed to do as they wish to do. We had one yesterday who called in sick 3 hours after he was supposed to be at work. He is now on a 4 day "enforced" vacation so he can adjust his attitude. The young man who is supposed to be working right now will be looking at the same disciplinary action. The lack of a leash on them has been replaced with a very short choke chain. The inmates no longer run the asylum and they are quickly finding out we don't play game. You either get with the program or you simply git gone. We only want those who are motivated to improve on what we already have. We have a plan, and if they cannot get on board the train, it will leave without them. A is the engineer, G is the fireman and I am the conductor on this train, the sooner they learn that the better. I guarantee the three of us have a stronger collective will than any one (or group) of them can even conceive. We knew these thing were going to happen, taking over a business and group of employees is similar to raising children. They as children will push the envelope and we as parents will yank on their choke chain to bring them up short. The end result being a team of players who are all on the same page. Those who cannot read the writing on the wall will discover what it says soon enough. They will then remove themselves from the picture or be removed for the good of the team. As I said none of this is unexpected, so there is not a stress factor for we three who are the guiding force of the team. The stress is on those who cannot for whatever reason read the writing on the wall. If they can't I will gladly interpret it for them free of charge. The bottom line for this morning is I now have to go to work at an earlier than scheduled time which is not a problem, it just comes with the territory. We also knew this would happen, and signed onto the program with open eyes. Hard work in the beginning will definitely pay dividends in the end which is the whole point anyway. I have no problem trading one for the other.

Today of course is Black Friday for retailers so we should be busy all day and by the time I get home today, I will be ready to tell the world to f*** off, lock my door and crash. It will be a good tired, but none the less my body will need some recoup time. I will probably miss my Friday night shows on TV, opting for sleep instead. I am excited as I can already see order coming from the chaos of the flurry of activities involved in the takeover. Our trainer from corporate plays for our team aqnd is in a LTR, A let me know before we actually met, which really facilitated our good working relationship by removing the whole coming out issue and any nervousness associated therein. M (our trainer) has really made the transition easier on all of us. So now I must convince Will to stop talking long enough for me to get ready for work so I can build a new day on the ashes of the old one. Before I rush off to work I will add today's collection of Friday Night Fantasies to my humble words to kick start your weekend. When next we meet it will be December with a new man of the month up top and the serious business of the holidays will be in full swing even in these perilous economic times. Have an awesome weekend making sure to meet me back here on Monday for another exciting episode of our little adventure. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
