Paradise Lost
... and once again I am sitting around trying to catch my breath from the fast pace at which my life is currently running. Not that I am complaining , mind you, I would much rather be too busy to be bored than vegetating uselessly in the corner watching the world pass me by. As a somewhat wry observer of the events swirling about the country, I cannot help but get some pleasure from the oh so public implosion of the Republican campaign. Is it just me or do they really sound more and more shrill each passing day as the desperation gets deaper and deeper. I am sure we have not heard the last from them, I just wonder what they will dream up next?
But on to more pleasant topics, I received next weeks Sports Illustrated in the mail today. Of course I could not help but see my favorite college team on the cover as they vaulted to #1 in the country by virtue of the Texas Longhorns having had an answer for anything and everything OU threw at them and more. Colt McCoy and the Longhorns walked away from the game with a 45-35 victory before a record crowd of more than 92,000 equally divide fans half wearing crimson and cream and the other burnt orange and white. Here is the cover:

It is my day off to day so I am just generaly mucking about. I went over to the Laman Library to get some more music for my hard drive and I found a couple of DVD's I had not seen to bring home also. As soon as I get this posted I will probably nap for a little bit before working on some new stuff for the blog that I have to read up on. I also applied for a grant to go to the Blogger Initiative and Summit being held in Washington, DC. FRom their email to me: "The Summit will be held in Washington, DC December 5 to 7, 2008. Bloggers accepted into the program will be provided with travel, accommodations and meals for the weekend. This program is funded through the generosity of Jonathan Lewis and with support from the Victory Fund and Human Rights Campaign. The Summit is managed in partnership with the New Organizing Institute and hosted by the Center for American Progress Action Fund."

I do hope I am accepted into the grant program as I would really like to get more involved in activism through blogging and other activities. I would also like to expand my horizons people wise also by getting to meet up with all those in attendance. There is also lots to see and do in DC itself between conference sessions. The next couple of months will be exciting as I approach my blogiversary on Nov 3, Nichevo's statistical birthday on Nov 12, with the holidays and the Blogger Initiative close behind. Oh, and there is this little matter squeezed in there on Nov 4 also, the day Barack and Joe take it to McPain and Bimbette and drive the final nail in GOP coffin for this cycle. This year is just rushing to a close already. I think even 2008 can't wait to get rid of the current occupant of the White House sop it is trying to hurry us along. Anyway that is about it for now except for this weeks edition of Hump Day Hunks which is coming right up next. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
