Thinking Out Loud

Helsinki, Finland

I know I am a little later posting than has been the norm here lately, but it was one of those cool cloudy days perfect for sleeping so I did. The picture is a little clearer today as to the coming events in my life. I am still due to speak with Mr Taj so he can make a counter offer for my services. If my conversation with the GM is any indicator, I am not certain if Mr Taj will be willing to meet the package I have been offered. He has been a blessing to my life at a time when I really needed one, so I will listen to what he has to say. I also talked to my buddy back in Big D after I got up this afternoon. He closes on the franchise on the 10th which is followed by 15 days of corporate sponsored transition before I can step into the management position. So we are looking at 30 days before I will leave the Natural State for the Lone Star State and my home town. I have not actually lived in the old neighborhood for many a year, staying mostly in the Dallas side of the metroplex for most of my adult life. Fort Worth is the more laid back of the two major cities that form the basis of the metropolitan area whereas Dallas is more slick, fast lane type of atmosphere. Fort Worth is also a little more redneck, long neck and country than the sleek, urban image Dallas likes to project. It is my hometown, however and as such, has watched and learned from Dallas' rapid growth, controlling unbridled expansion while rejuvenating and revitalizing its core infrastructure adding such boons to business as The Alliance Airport and Texas Motor Speedway among the many corporations and industries populating the northern reaches of Tarrant County. I am looking forward to the challenge of building a successful retail business even in today's economy. Good customer service and value for the dollar spent still sells in this country no matter how hard W has tried to fuck it up.

In my time remaining here in NLR, I will try to hit the big items still left on my to do list like the State House Museum and the Clinton Library/School of Public Service. I do not regret moving here, it has been one of the most positive experiences of my life. However, this opportunity feels right to me. My confidantes are all in concurrence that I should strike while the iron is hot or walk through the door that has opened for me, however you want to put it. There will be things I will miss about Arkansas, like the friends I have made at Open Door and here at the hotel. I do not think I will regret moving back to Texas. After all you can take the boy out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the boy. I will always and for ever be a Texan, no matter my physical location. We shall keep you posted as we continue the marvelous journey that is Nichevo. Thanks for stopping by, until next time as always, Enjoy!
