Main Street, NLR

Rainbow In A Cornfield

Yesterday was a very good day. When last we spoke I was rushing out the door to a staff meeting at 11. The meeting for me was very short, about 10 minutes, when Mr Taj told everyone I was doing excellent work, he appreciated all my hard work and he was giving me a raise. I was surprised by the raise, but was not about to argue the point. He then said I could go because I had worked all night. I left and headed out downtown to go to the beadier and Popeye's. I went to Popeye's first, bringing a big box of chicken back with me. I then strolled up Main Street to the Argenta Bead Company with my trusty Nikon primed and ready. Follow me as we take a stroll down Main Street, NLR.

We start at the foot of Main Street at Broadway Avenue and head north from there. At opposite corners sit Cregeen's Irish Pub and City Hall NLR:

Coming up in October is the Festival of Wines to benefit the Jack Stephens Heart Center:

Traveling a little further north we find the original Argenta Drug Company in its original location still thriving after all these years:

Across and up the street a little from the Argenta Drug Company is the Starving Artist Cafe:

Other shops and businesses in some well kept older buildings:

Then this imposing edifice is not a church but the main post office:

The electrical boxes are painted referencing the Trail of Tears the south eastern tribes took to get to the new Indian Territory (now Oklahoma):

Just a half block west of Main Street is the historic Baker House which is now a Bed N Breakfast:

The Carriage House entrance is on Main Street and as you can see has been converted to residential use:

Next to the Carriage House is this quaint Architects office:

Across from the Carriage House is the Owens building built in 1928:

Then just down Main is the art deco inspired Argenta Seafood Company:

Finally we come to our destination The Argenta Bead Company:

This was just a random hottie driving by, could not resist the shot:

Then we step inside into the wonderful world of bead craft:

I got the stuff I needed to restring the bracelets I had and found a couple more I liked before heading out and taking one last look:

Before heading to the bus/trolley stop across the street to head back home:

It was quite an enjoyable excursion and not that expensive, around $30 all told including travel, food and beading purchases. Then I came home and crashed out until about 7 or so then could not go back to sleep. Ah well, it was a great day and work went well last night, so I guess I will just leave you with some hotties to get your throttle throbbing for this Thursday. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
