Autumn On The River
Somewhere In New England
I want to thank all of you who wrote to me with your kind words and concerns for my well being during my unexpected absence. It was not my intent to abandon you my loyal readers, however, your Uncle had burned his candle at both ends for so long, all that was left was a puddle of wax. In desperate need of regeneration, when push came to shove, something had to give way. Unfortunately for you guys it was posting here on the blog. While it is a labor of love, publishing Nichevo is also labor intensive and somewhat time consuming as I strive to bring to you the finest content I can. Therefore, I stopped all creative processes except for work and sleep. I slept at least twelve hours under medication the first two days before I would return to a semblance of normality. As the week wore on I promised I would not pressure myself to publish until I was rested enough to take on the task. The Hotel started trying to give me a day off on Wednesday which eventually came about on Sunday plus I got Monday off also. My first days off in 5 weeks. Sunday was not real good for resting as I went to work at midnight on Saturday night, getting off at 8 AM then getting ready for the rest of what would be a very long day.
Upon my arrival at home, I changed into my Sunday go to meeting clothes to attend services at Open Door, leaving around 9:45. Arriving at the church the fellowship began and continued throughout the services which were very uplifting and emotional for all in attendance. Following services, we had Care Team Meetings and our group headed out to David and Brock's house out in Maumelle in Faulkner County about a half hour out from the hotel on I 40. While riding out there with David my buddy in Dallas whom I had written that business plan for back last month. H had his final review on Monday and he needed a Summary Page to complete the package for the corporate bean counters. I told him I would have to do it later in the evening as I was not at home and heading out to Maumelle to return around 4 or so. He said np, he would call after I got home and email me his ideas for the summary which I would turn into English extraordinaire for the final synopsis. The only problem with the plan so far was the Cowboy game with the Packers which came on at 7:15. Again my buddy said np, he would be up to 1 or 2 anyway. So I said OK and went on out to Care Team where we had a great cookout with burgers etc, ( I had made potato salad to bring) and lots of good fellowship. We ran a little late resulting in my return home after 6 instead of after 4. I was full, happy and excited about the upcoming game which turned out to be a really great game if you were a Dallas fan as I am but not so good from the Packer view point. Here are some pictures of David and Brock's Home on a bend in Arkansas River:
During the game, which the Cowboys won handily 27-16 in a game that was not as close as the final score indicated, I opened up my gmail to find the document sent over by my buddy. I printed out the two pages he sent and read them over several times before starting the summary after the game. The information I was to summarize was about the implementation of budgeted goals for sales and gross profit. It took a couple of hours before I was satisfied with the results which I then sent off to my buddy. By this time it was 2 am and I had been up for 44 out of 48 hours at the tail end of 5 weeks with out a day off. I took two Pm Pain relievers, one generic Aleve and a Trazadone and blisfully lay me down to sleep for the next twelve hours. I awoke somewhat sluggishly but brightened as I had my morning ingestion of nicotine, caffeine and sugar to get me going. I did not want to be a slug all day so I went and did a little shopping before returning home and posting those slide shows for you guys yesterday. I had promised a reader to have a post on Monday and I am not one to break my promises, but I was not yet ready to write about anything. I was planning to go get my AR ID finally this morning and had planned for an early start. But first I had to watch the season premiere of Heroes which came on at 7 lasting to 10. It looks to be a very interesting season coming up as the characters and alternate scenarios develop further. I was heading in the direction of getting ready to go to bed when my buddy Will in Omaha called. As is our usual thing we talked for hours until about 4:30 AM effectively cancelling an early start to today. I got up around nine and finally headed out the door around 11 arriving at the AR Revenue office in the same shopping center where I buy my groceries around 11:20. Fortune was on my side as there were only 7 people in line in front of me (they were serving 58, my number was 65) and I only had to wait about a half hour before getting to present my documents which I had in order as I had been there previously and gotten the specifics of what I would need in this post 9/11 paranoia created by our "friends" in Washington. It took about 5 minutes for that process and now I am officially an AR resident and I have and ID to prove it. I was having no problems not having an ID, but I wanted a Library Card for the Laman Library and I had to have an ID for that. I had let my DL expire as I have not had a car in almost 6 years now and saw no reason to pay TX for a privilege I did not use so I did not renew it when the time came. the only problem then was I lost my wallet and did not have anything "legally identifiable with a photo" which meant coming up with alternate methods of establishing who I am to the satisfaction of the functionaries of the state government in order to get "my papers in order". Now that is done and it is getting late so I will close with some eye candy from my screen saver. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
