The Excitement Begins

Coral Reef

Good Monday Morning to all you fine folks out there! Uncle is feeling refreshed from his little "staycation" of one day (actually one and a half) and ready to tackle a busy week. For sure there is lots of exciting things to talk about with the Democrats opening their convention in Denver today among items of interest bubbling on the stove. I had such a trying week for the second part of last week, instead of telling tales and recapping woes that worked out in the end , so I thought we would just move on to this week and have at it. With the major issues decided already with Senator Obama's choice of Senator Biden as his running mate, just the details of the platform and other minutiae need be taken care of before the Acceptance Speech planned for the anniversary of the MLK assassination. Should be good spectacle if the preview look at the main stage area is any clue to what is going to happen:

Of course there are some grumblings from the Clinton camp followers because Hilary did not get the VP nod and blah blah blah, but it sounds more like sour grapes that real problems. I did run across an op ed piece in the New York Times last week that posited an interesting conspiracy theory you might want to check out here. It is one of those things that makes you go "hmmmmmm?".

Moving sorta out of the political arena we move on to the just closed Beijing Olympic games where that spunky little hunk from down under did us all proud by winning the Gold Medal in the 10 meter platform in spectacular fashion.. Pool side were his team mates his Mom and his Partner Lachlan, both of whom he kissed after the medal ceremony, that footage censored by NBC and not shown in the US. However Uncle has that footage for you posted below the Video Nichevo player. The footage includes all 6 dives in the final round , the medal ceremony and the exuberant, joyous celebration by Matthew and those who love and support him. Congratulations for a job well done and thank you for being who you are. You can read his original coming out story and the victory story (page 1 page 2) as written up in the Sydney Morning Herald and then the Out Sports Editorial What Mitcham's Win Means To Gays Everywhere for more information about this very special young man.

Lest you guys think I put all this stuff together this morning , well guess again. Uncle did not take the day off from blogging completely yesterday as I did spend some time in the afternoon selecting videos and photos and running across interesting tidbits here and there. My buddy Will in Omaha, who spends an inordinate amount of time online, send me links to this ,photos of that, etc. all the time. Well, yesterday he sent me a couple of things one of which was funny, and the other which had me ROTFLMAO, so naturally I had to share them with you guys here. The first is George Bush's agenda for the day:

and then there is this little gem that will have you ROTFLYAO, be sure to click on the pic for the large version so you can get the full impact. It will definitely jerk a laugh out of even the most stoic of you out there :

Now on to more entertainment, Uncle has some good stuff in Video Nichevo today starting with the post medal ceremony interview of Matthew Mitcham with is Mom and ALaclan at his side, then a new video from my friend Kai Miano Cameopan. Next up is Davey Wavey Asking The Question before we turn really plitical with some jabes at John McCain, and the introductory speeches made by Barack Obama and Joe Biden on Saturday. Then there is the video I mentioned above which chronicles Matthews amazing final round. As if that is not enough, following all the video footage is this weeks edition of Monday's Marvelous Men with a line up sure to make you drool uncontrollably or at least cause a rise in your levis that you may have to take in hand to solve. So we have a full lineup today and what looks to be a very interesting week up ahead.
