Memorial Day, RiverFest And Other Amusing Things!

Brooklyn Bridge Celebrates 125 Years

Finally the weekend has arrived with all its attendant hubbub of activities. After the adventures of the past couple of days I do not know how much more excitement I can take. Never fear for your intrepid Uncle will soldier on bravely in the face of weapons of mass entertainment, wedding parties, Aunt who?, which cousin is he?, and those who have partied a little too hardy. It is Memorial Day Weekend so I wanted to take a minute salute all those men and women in uniform today and remember all those who have gone before, most especially those that gave that last full measure of devotion. I saw this over at my blog buddy Ryan's blog so I borrowed it for over here today.

What better way to celebrate Memorial Day that by having the Court of Appeals reinstate the case challenging Don't Ask / Don't Tell in the courts with a proviso from the Appeals court to the presiding judge to hold the government to a stricter standard for proving their case for keeping the rule. As long as we are congratulating courts, let's hear for the California Supreme Court which struck down the ban on Gay Marriage there. I noticed this over at One Love posted courtesy of Joe My God and I just thought it was so cute you guys had to see it.

What do you think, cute, huh? Even the Governator has finally gotten semi on board with his "I will not support an amendment to the Constitution of the State of California" statement. So if it comes to a vote let us hope the good people of California confirm the court's decision by resoundingly defeating such an amendment at the polls in November. (Oh and they could cast a vote for Barack Obama while they are there, too!) I know that was a political plug but with Hillary trying to single handedly destroy the Democratic Party with all her hijinks we need all the help we can get.

Another of my blog buddies, the Lunch Lady, who keeps me abreast of all the happenings with the high school set in Cowtown had the next little thing posted on her blog and the instructions said to pass it on. So here I am passing it along to you. I think you will agree it is something every one of us could use.

Now as for my plans for today, I am going to do some errands this morning then I am off to RiverFest for the day and evening so I should have lots to tell you in tomorrow's post. For today, I have some video to entertain you, starting with the Davey Wavey Fashion Show. Then I have three music videos to show you with Vladimir Horowitz playing Litz's Conoslation Number 3 , My Favorite Chopin !! (which I was supposed to bring you the other day and we all know what happened there), and another video by Christian6657 called Jewels From Art. Then we of course have some more tasty selection in today's eye candy section, some of which are a reprise from earlier post that I could not resist reposting. So there you have guy (and gals) for this edition, we will see you hear tomorrow for my recap of RiverFest. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
