Sunset and Ditte On The Beach
At Roervig, Denmark
As I sit here this morning writing this I am happily content in my little corner of the world. I am by no means financially independent and care free, but after so many years of struggle, I am content in the place where I am. I have made progress financially which only promises to get better, my employment situation being both stable and progressive. I now live in an area with many natural and historical sites of interest (not that Dallas or Texas had no history) that are new to me as I had never spent any time in Arkansas before moving here. I have been introduced to a wonderful group of people at Open Door that have been a balm to my soul and which have provided an avenue for friendships along with a support system for my badly broken "believer" when it comes to organized religion. As Pastor Randy says if you hate organized religion, you will love us because we aren't organized! That is not so, I think the community as it has evolved to its present point is well organized yet unpretentious. The folks who attend services there are as diverse a group as I have seen in any religious venue yet they all seem to have that genuine caring spirit about them that envelopes you when you enter the building. It flows from the Pastor outward to all who come in contact with them. I am still somewhat shy in the group setting but have had the opportunity to get better acquainted with several people in smaller social settings such as the after service trip to get Mexican food I blogged about last week and today's Care Team meeting. It was a small group today as one of the leaders the "D" in DNB had an emergency appendectomy this week so he was at home recovering with B and there were several team members out of town or at other obligations. It was quite a nice afternoon. RT and JK pinch hit for DNB and hosted this month's meeting. We had pizza a lots of pleasant conversation. RT works at the huge Lamon Library next door to the hotel and JK does customer service work so there was a lot of common ground there. We got to talking about computers and JK is as big a fan of Firefox as I am, we compared notes on which features we both had chosen to use in customizing our browsers. Yes I was a little self serving in that I of course directed them to Nichevo, would you expect less from your intrepid Uncle? I am proud of what I have here and am always gratified when I hear from so many of you on a regular basis to commend, criticize or contribute to the journey we are taking together. Since beginning Nichevo nearly a year and a half ago so many of you have contributed so much to my life that enables me to be where I am today. I consider myself a very lucky man to be where I am and coming in contact with the people that have appeared along the path upon which I have been led. I am looking forward to continuing on this path for a while as it seems to be heading where I have the desire to go. I am happy that so many of you stop by on a regular basis to share the journey with me and the friends I have made along the way. Stay with us and we will see where the trade winds take us as we weigh anchor for yet another adventure. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
